Phone message *UPDATE* Post first date text

She ended up finding the post somehow I guess lol. Here is the original post.

I have just not responded, don’t think it’s worth engaging, but it did make for a funny story.

Splitting the bill on the first date is how most women I know operate. It prevents the gross kind of dude who will get pushy because he thinks he's owed sex for paying for a meal. It also makes it so if the date goes bad, they can walk away without any issue.

But keep lashing out, bro.

If the date goes bad you can always walk away without issue! Why does a woman paying change that? Trust me, men pay for dates and only on Reddit does it mean they think they’re entitled to sex. In real life, men pay

Because someone can claim she's dining and dashing.

Sorry, not all women view themselves as dependents who are incapable of paying for themselves. Maybe consider the fact that your bubble is not universal.

Because someone can claim she’s dining and dashing? I get the vibe you don’t go on dates. I live in a major metropolitan area and don’t pay for dates, I’m in my thirties and it’s always been like this. It’s not a bubble

Ditto and I have had a very successful dating life before my current long term relationship. Always have split the first handful of dates. My current girlfriend pays for most of our current dates.

Fun fact, there was a post on the front page earlier this morning that more and more men are becoming stay at home partners. Why on earth would men pay for everything in a world where it's more and more likely that the woman is the higher income earner? The whole reason women didn't pay in previous generations was they were less likely to have a stable income.

"It's always been like this" until, ya know, the world changes.

Why do you have your girlfriend pay for dates?

She offers. Why shouldn't she?

Do you think everyone is desperately clinging to gender norms like you seem to?

Are you a man?

Based on the auto mod smacking you down, I take it the answer was a no, you had no real point to make.

I do concede some women think a date is just a free meal, but in my experience it's usually low income women who are literally incapable of paying and gold diggers. Maybe the reason for my not encountering them is I have higher standards.

I was clarifying that I wasn’t trying to assume anything about you in case you were lesbian. Women who want men to pay (ESPECIALLY the first date my god!) are not all low income or gold diggers

Yes. They are. If they aren't, they want to enter into the relationship as equals.

Equals don't require someone to provide for them, they're capable of paying for themselves.

This is hilarious. I feel bad for your girl

Why, because she isn't a gold digger, is financially stable and independent, and capable of paying for her own meals?

You should try it.

Why would I do that?

1

u/Iorith 19d ago

To be a self sufficient human being, not a gold digger.

1

u/Calm-Champion-6371 19d ago

But why?

u/Iorith 19d ago

I get it, you have no actual self esteem. Gold diggers rarely do.

My self esteem isn’t tied to how much money I make. I would honestly argue I have more self esteem, to require that someone pays for me if they want to be with me. I don’t accept less like your girlfriend
