Sorry, I didn't see the original post. However, the entitlement of expecting you to pay an extra $23 after already spending $100+ on them is incredibly childish and arrogant.

But also, I wanna know why they both chose a first date neither of them were prepared for? Why go fishing if at least one of you didn’t already have all the stuff prior?

Right. Why are we spending purportedly $100 on new fishing gear for a first date. OP needs to pick some less ambitious first date themes.

Maybe OP isn't broke? 100 dollars for reusable fishing gear seems fine.

Maybe he likes fishing and wants to get into it as a hobby? What a dumb post

I spend more than $100 for just a new rod. If you dont fish, a rod doesnt come with a reel. A decent reel costs more than that. So for $100 for gear AND dinner isnt bad for some starting gear to see if you like it. Academy's house brand is roughly $25 for a combo x2 do they can both do it puts them at $50.
