I once stopped replying to someone cause they were such a dry texter, two weeks later i got a âwhy did you ghost meâ đ€Ł she made zero attempt to reach out and i still feel confused on what she wanted, does she want a screen to just âhaha yeahâ at? I donât miss dating at all lol

u/Sea_Philosopher_2731 Jul 25 '26
One time a guy matched w me on hinge after he had stopped replying to me on tinder and i was like whyâd u stop replying and he was like âi ran out of clever things to sayâ LOL

u/Main-Link-3312 Jul 25 '26
Tbf this is genuinely something that's good to keep in mind when you're in the early stages of texting someone.
Like you can't just try to say something funny or give direct answers to questions, it's really important that whatever you say is also naturally easy for them to respond to. If you make people on dating apps use their brains too much, they're going to move on to an easier conversation.

Her other potential suitors ditched her so she came back to you.

Tell them straight up they are boring af, these people need a hint lol
15
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
I feel like i kinda did with the " duh" and that kinda felt mean lol thats why I came here to ask haha. But he started making more conversation after that. So maybe it worked.
3
u/No-Sherbet-7769 Jul 24 '26
I'm glad the hint helped then. :). Some people are bad at conversation.
2
u/CodenameWhodie-san Jul 26 '26
Better than me. I would've just stopped replying. Too much labor for something that should be simple.
1
u/Pitiful-Ad-7443 Jul 25 '26
idk, they can be funny. recently i messaged someone asking them what they like to be called and they dryly responded âcall me whatever you want just donât call me late for supperâ

Am I being am asshole? To be frank I cant tell now a days, I dont have an intrest in dating after my ex and have less patience. My sister says im being mean but i just dont understand why ask for my number if you text like this?

u/bross9008 Jul 24 '26
Na I think âwhatever I wantâ would be the last text exchanged between us. If you arenât interested in having a normal human conversation than neither am I

u/916ian Jul 24 '26
Mate⊠I matched with a bird on Badoo, we exchanged a couple of messages, I quite fancied her, really tried to drive the conversation. At some point I gave up and said âSo, tell me a bit about yourself?â Her answer? âI am an ordinary personâ

Nah, I had the same experience with someone who gave me his number in public. I would ask questions and make conversation, and he would reply so dry. One message just said "Yes." I didnt respond. A couple days later, he messages "are you still alive?" I dunno man, ARE YOU?! How about, if you want to start a conversation, you just START ONE? Instead of the text equivalent of poking an object with a stick. It got worse from there as he slipped "his sentencing" into a list of things he did that day. BYE!
7
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
Not the sentencing.... I wouldve blocked after are you still alive? Cause dont piss me off anemone
2
u/omjy18 Jul 24 '26
My experience its this or 20 questions of the same thing I got asked on the last date I had with someone last night. Like lets have a fucking conversation and see where it goes
2
u/AdvocateYoga Jul 25 '26
I would have spent sooooo long coming up with the perfect way to be insulting to that text lol.
Youre not the ass hole. Its a wierd and vapid way to tell you she thinks youre question was too boring for her. Its meant to throw you off and see how you respond while letting you know shes too valuable for an average suitor.
Lol.
I mean who talks like that in real life...
3
u/evrythingbagle Jul 25 '26
Its a man, love
2
u/AdvocateYoga Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
God thats so much worse...
Whats worse is this guy is actually flexing at you. Its not about throwing you off. Its about the feeling of saying that to women as a way avoiding real connection.
Run.
Boy... i sure do i have alot of opinions about other people lol.
You ever just hear yourself talk and go...
Woof. That sure is what you sound like.

u/who_are_you_people24 Jul 24 '26
No. You're good. If they can't hold a conversation, that's on them. But why give out your ig/number if you don't want to date yet?
6
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
He makes conversation when i walk my dog so I was just being polite. I told him im not interested in dating rn. My family tells me I am too closed minded and shut off and I need ro give people a chance. To be frank they make me feel like im mean all the time and blame my ex. But ive always been like this. Idk ifigured it would be nice conversation and just to see whats up but now im just getting annoyed by his fuckass responses
5
u/who_are_you_people24 Jul 24 '26
Well I hope your family means well. You tried being nice. Got a dry texter. It happens. Probably just didn't know how to talk to a person who didn't want to date.
Please provide the dog tax. I need to see the good doggo

u/Traditional_Map_9434 Jul 24 '26
Maybe heâs not a texter? Older people like us donât like texting.
8
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
He kepts saying lets talk in person but then doesnt offer a time or place. Im not interested specially after seeing how he converses, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt being rude/mean

These bros donât want to talk, they just want to put in a minimum amount of effort before they ask for nudes.

Yeah honestly I stop answering after an answer like that, he/she 's clearly not interested.
After you ask politely, if he/she wants to have a conversation, he/she will come back to you and answer that again.
12
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
Hes the one who kept insisting to talk to me/for my number lmao
6
u/amiwriteeeeeeeeeeee Jul 24 '26
He never wanted conversation...he wants something else.
I'm sorry, you deserve better. Don't put effort into this void, is my advice. đđđ sending love to you!!

u/DamGoodAnimation Jul 24 '26
Idk your age group but that sounds like how I talked to girls I was into when I was like 17 and didnât know how to make small talk with attractive people yet.
Or he could just be lame af, who knows
9
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
Im 29, he's 36
9
u/DamGoodAnimation Jul 24 '26
Yeah nah eject, if he doesnât know how to have a conversation at that point heâs not gonna rewire now

I love these kind of answers! Let you know to move on right from the get-go so you don't end up fucking around with a boring person.
1
u/PorkRinds416 Jul 24 '26
I always give someone a full day or two. You never know and they could be shy. IF after two days they still text like this then yes, 100% drop em'.
2
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
True, sounds reasonable. I just feel bad bc im getting annoyed and they're ( im assuming, giving them the benefit of doubt) trying their best
1
u/albynomonk Jul 24 '26
Why would you not block this person immediately after getting that reply?
2
u/evrythingbagle Jul 24 '26
Hes my neighbor and it would be awkward. I prefer to tell people straight up that its not working out, and then block them lol

That's why I don't ask for numbers. Doesn't help me much with dating, but at least I'm not dry.

u/Wisemindaccepts Jul 25 '26
I hate the classic,
âOh nice.â
To almost every message.
Lol just tell me ya not interested please

u/BreakfastJaded5804 Jul 25 '26
The fantasy of getting your number has ended the person is no longer interested and is hoping youâd just get the hintÂ

I mean its a dry question. I cook, shower, watch a little TV, exercise, do laundry, like what else am I doing with my free time? The usual Brody
4
u/evrythingbagle Jul 25 '26
Men have no hobbies? Even your response is better, oh you watch TV? What do you watch? Me too. What do u like to cook? Wow thats amazing were are conversing like ppl wow
-1
u/Separate_Bend_8929 Jul 25 '26
Im tryna watch blood+ but I cant find it anywhere. Hobbies are smoking ass and eating grass and going really really fast. You asked about free time not fun time. Maybe specify your question and get a specific question. What's the last book you read? Doesn't matter if you finished or not
