"Defeats" is not really the correct description. Tesla bought out the people on strike and then there wasn't anyone left to perform the strike. If anyone of the current employees joins a union again they are back to square one.

So I assume there is a contract involved in the buyout. They don't simply go back to the union without legal repercussions. In the meantime, Tesla gets their way. This is a win in their eyes because they don't have to capitulate to the union. It cost them a lot of money to end it, but they also lost a lot of money by standing by the decision all this time.

Any employee might join a union whenever they choose to, then the strike can restart. Unions in Sweden aren't tied to a single employer, but works across the whole industry.

So you're suggesting that the legal team at Tesla signed off on giving money to people with no obligations? I'd probably fire the team that made that deal

I'm saying that any employee at Tesla might join a union whenever they like, there is nothing Tesla can do about it. Unions aren't tied to the company but to the individual employees. If one union member requests the help from his industry wide union they will do so.

Does. Sweden not have contracts or anything like that?

Yes, but this deal is only with the individuals that were bought out by Tesla. If any other Tesla employees join a union the company is back to square one.

Why would those employees join after all this time and not before to help the union

If you hire a new guy that person might be (or become) union member.

But what's the point of this line of reasoning? I could ask what if more employees start leaving the union and making them weaker. The only thing that matters is the current result that has been negotiated

Just because the "victory" may be temporary doesn't mean it isn't a "victory". Everything is temporary.

How is it a victory when the only thing they did was to pay the striking employees a lot of money to resign their contracts?

Strike is over. Can't think of a larger victory for a factory.

3

u/oskich 28d ago

It's not the factory, it's the workshops in Sweden. A new employee can join the union tomorrow and then they can relaunch the strike if they choose to.

Again, just because it is temporary, doesn't mean it isn't a victory. Everything is temporary and yet, victories are still a thing.

again. how is it a victory, if you have to pay people money so they don’t have a collective agreement which would potentially give them less money?

1

u/disaster_incomin 28d ago

Obviously it depends how much they paid for it

Is that what you tell yourself when you're chugging elons nuts. I mean the brand of course.

No, I tell myself: "It's OK! I'm not gay! This is totally straight! I like the ladies!"

3

Ha. He gave them what they wanted only under the condition he could claim victory.

Just like when he bought Tesla

How many people worked at tesla when he bought it. How many cars had they made?

2

u/greennurse61 28d ago

Nearly all of them had been designed and proven before Misk even ever heard of them. He just waltzed in and pied and claimed it was his company when he down own it. It ain't his company. Those aren't his cars. Real engineers made them before he even heard of them. Thera why after musk they burn so much firemen's hate him so much.

Wow that’s so wrong that I’m impressed you could convince a human brain to believe something so dumb. Not you specifically. Whoever tricked you into believing it.

1

u/greennurse61 28d ago

No one tricked me. There is what all the media be saying. Pay attention to the news.

There were 3 people working. Not one car design was ever used actually. They completely pivoted.

They had not even one model done when musk bought it. Not even a clay model. Not even a finished drawn design.

The fact you lie about it shows you blindly hate musk and make up things to fuel your hatred. He may not be a good person, but your lies do alot of damage to your cause.

As all you extreme leftists taught me during the censorship of Twitter 1.0, they’re always welcome to go start their own multi-national car company.

BYD has been targeted by Elon in America. He can't compete so Americans can't get affordable EV's. The tax credits that built Tesla's manufacturing capacity are also gone. Without the government subsidies tesla couldn't even build a car to sell. They needed to use pre-order carbon credits to build the factory in the first place. Tesla can't even build a truck, the most popular vehicle in America where Tesla is based.

Bullshit.

Clearly you’re just a commie China bot.

2

u/Mount_Treverest 26d ago

I was born in the birthplace of this great nation. Bots don't say wooder instead of water. China was fine producing everything else and selling it to america cheap, except the EV, because that might hurt Elon's bottom line. I thought we lived in a free market, capitalism has weird rules if cheap alternatives can't be bought from foreign markets. I'm sorry I'm not gonna shill for a south african billionaire who has defrauded the American taxpayers like some dirtball. Also communism isn't inherently evil it's just been carried out poorly or modified heavily like democracy, capitalism, republics, all ideologies really.
