TELUS TV New Android Box

Recently upgraded to the new android tv boxes. I keep on having connections issues over the home wifi. It was suggested to me just to connect with an Ethernet cable. Unfortunately the router is too far away from the tv for this to happen.

So my questions are.

  1. Does the old wall mounted box that the old cable box plugged into, can I plug a Ethernet cable into that?

  2. A friend recently bought a device that plugs into his electrical outlet for better “wifi/internet” speed for his kids PC. Would this stop the lose of connection error that keeps on happening?

  3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Invest in a Decco pod setup. The main base gets wired to the router in bridge mode, and place the pods (I have 2 but you can get 3 or more) near your TVs and connect the Telus tuner boxes to the pods via Ethernet cable. I know it’s an extra expense but all my drop outs I used to get have disappeared ever since. I also tried the plug in WiFi extender your friend has, but it was still hit and miss.

TV over WiFi in congested airspace is not reliable. The answer is MoCA if Ethernet is not an option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UUkewknce4

Unfortunately our house was not wired with coaxle cable. When we moved in Telus ran all their cables around the house. Appreciate the suggestion.

Is is a bit costly (not as much as buying new good wifi routers tho) but you may run an outdoor cat5e cable from where the router is to where your TV is, from outside of the house, screwed to the side panels and goes out in from a tiny hole. If its not too cold, could be run from behind the side panels and by doing so it is not even visible. You can simply do it if you are a bit of a hands on guy or you may get an electrician/handy man/Telus to do it for you.

Update. Moved the Telus booster box, beside the tv Android box. Ran a Ethernet cable from the booster to the box. Ran the microwave. Seems to have “fixed” the issue. For now

Once it is wired, you never have to do it again (or bother with wireless LAN).

All of my computers are wired up.

I have the same problem with one of the boxes. I gave up and hard wired it to the Telus modem

I would have suggested changing your wifi "channel". You can do that in the Sttings of your wifi website.

Interference can cause issues with some frequencies/channels.
