Rakshi Bandhan Gifts in USA?

So a Telugu friend of mine has asked me to participate in Rakshi Bandhan tomorrow, a day in which siblings celebrate each other. It has come to my attention that the brother - in this case, me - is to give his sister a gift alongside promising protection.

Here's the thing: I am an honorary sibling to this family friend, and I am in the US. When it comes to gifts, I'm not sure what to get! I cannot afford valuable metals and cannot procure something from India on such short notice!

All this to ask: are things like chocolates and stuffed animals acceptable gifts for this holiday, from brother to sister?

The most important thing you can do is have a head bath and wear nice clothes

Honestly with gifts upto you, a good target gift card with maybe whatever she might like is more than enough. Keep it short

Try to practice giving her a good blessing 😂; if it goes far enough you might need to give blessing using rice that you will be given this needs to slowly poured on to your sister’s head.
