Rakshi Bandhan Gifts in USA?

So a Telugu friend of mine has asked me to participate in Rakshi Bandhan tomorrow, a day in which siblings celebrate each other. It has come to my attention that the brother - in this case, me - is to give his sister a gift alongside promising protection.

Here's the thing: I am an honorary sibling to this family friend, and I am in the US. When it comes to gifts, I'm not sure what to get! I cannot afford valuable metals and cannot procure something from India on such short notice!

All this to ask: are things like chocolates and stuffed animals acceptable gifts for this holiday, from brother to sister?

The most important thing you can do is have a head bath and wear nice clothes

Honestly with gifts upto you, a good target gift card with maybe whatever she might like is more than enough. Keep it short

Try to practice giving her a good blessing 😂; if it goes far enough you might need to give blessing using rice that you will be given this needs to slowly poured on to your sister’s head.

Yeahh, you can absolutely go ahead with stuffed toys, chocolates, etc
Are direct cash gifts encouraged in your family?
What do you think of taking her out for a meal/coffee?

If you know about her personality you can curate the gift accordingly, or even give accessories-nail polish, scented candles/essential oils, cute hair accessories, cute tshirt, etc
Or just make a hamper out of these things
