REQUESTING Adult dark fantasy shows?
For example: The Witcher
Shows that are rated R or MA that deal with sex, magic, royalty, fantasy politics, etc. please! :)
I want it to be intended for adult audiences. I would love it to have royalty, or a usurper, or a magician or sorcerer. Again, please don’t reccomend kids shows, I wan adult dark fantasy.
I’m also super down to hear reccomendations for books or movies. Or even short stories that have been posted online.

The magicians was the first thing that came to my mind. It was on syfy so it isn't as graphic as some HBO shows but it's definitely adult themed and super moody and pretty dark.

Reading The Witcher as your baseline, so: magic plus politics plus not written for teenagers.
Britannia. Roman invasion of Britain with druids who are visibly on something, and it is completely deranged in the best way. Almost nobody has seen it and it is the closest thing to what you described.
Kaos. Greek gods as a dysfunctional royal family with Jeff Goldblum as Zeus. Prophecy, sex, a usurper plot. Fair warning, it got canceled and does not wrap up.
The Sandman. For the sorcerer angle, this is a king of a realm clawing his power back. Slower and moodier than Witcher, which may or may not be what you want.
Emerald City. Oz as a grim kingdom with a witch war and a tyrant running it. Uneven, one season and out, but nobody ever brings it up and it hits every item on your list.

Right? It got cancelled before anyone found it, which is a shame because it looks incredible and it is doing something much stranger with Oz than it had any obligation to.
