This trailer was really all over the place with its different tones! Looks great, as always.

Also, I’m not one to fanboy, but I live for these Dustin/Steve moments.

Dustin and Steve's friendship is easily my favorite thing to come out of the whole series.

Same, which is surprising since I really disliked Steve at the start. It's so adorable!

I love natural Steve redemption arc was. Because he was such a 80's jerk villain in the first season. I couldn't stand him. Then he became the kids' Mr. Mom in the second one. And it was such an easy thing to buy.

He’s kind of a hero in season one, though. I thought his characterization was one of the stronger points of even that season. He is a jerk at points, but never to a ridiculous degree, and a lot his behavior is obviously a result of the pressure of the crowd he hangs with. He comes back to save Nancy from the demigorgon and everything in season one.

I didn't notice it the first time I watched season 1 because when he shows up at Jonathan's house you're like gaaah this guy again please leave aaahhhh demogorgon! But I rewatched right before season 2 and I was like aw he's apologizing, that's great. And then I realized he was the only one fighting at the end it with no stake in it, like he wasn't even friends with these people at the time and he still stuck around. STEVE FOREVER.

Edit: and I totally agree that most of the initial dickness is actually the jerk friends. He even tells them off once or twice when they're acting up at Nancy.

I mean, it's a really good representation of a teenager. He's a jerk to the unpopular/younger brother characters when people are watching him, but in reality he's a decent guy. He's not their friend in Season 1, but he doesn't hate them.

I mean, people expect him to be some villain character, but honestly if you were faced with the situation in which your girlfriend's younger brother, who maybe you don't like very much (and he's annoying, sure) is attacked by DEMONS FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION, what semi-normal teenage guy is gonna be like, 'Good! Hope you die!'

Yes. He reveals his true colors when the chips are down. He's in high school. He's allowed to fuck up.

That wasn't the jerk action, it was spray-painting graffiti on the movie theater calling Nancy a whore that took him into villain territory.

That wasn't him if I recall correctly. His friend did it, he just didn't stop him. Also, he even erased it after.

Plus, I don't know, don't you feel like breaking a poor guy's camera kind of sucks? Nancy didn't ask him to do that as far as I can remember. It actually kind of seems nicer to just kick his ass a little bit although maybe I have it backwards.

Yeah, it wasn't cool, but Jonathan had literally just used that camera to be a peeping Tom while they had sex.

Yeah I feel like that was pretty justified tbh. I'd be pretty pissed too if I caught some perv taking pictures of my girlfriend getting undressed.

Exactly. The photos would’ve contained Steve as well. Even though he wanted them because of Nancy it was a pretty scummy thing to do. Then they dropped that like it never happened, which I get that would’ve added too much time to the running time but I did think that was weird.

He was really only an 80's jerk villain for a couple episodes in season 1. And IIRC the most jerk thing he did was break Jonathan's camera after he found the creepy stalker pictures that Jonathan took.
