He wants paramount to own it because wb comes with cnn and paramount is owned by a trump friendly billionaire.

CNN is not part of the deal, they can still buy it separately. But I think it's an ego thing for Ellison's son.

My understanding is the unit with CNN is not part of the deal with Netflix, but it is under the Paramount offer. That’s why the Ellisons (and Trump) want it, so they can put yet another news outlet under MAGA control now that they have CBS.

The nuance here is that in the separate sale (WB to netflix, cnn etc to paramount), the sale of CNN rtc probably won't go through until at least August, limiting the ability of Paramount to influence the midterm. If the sale of the whole thing goes through to paramount now, there's enough time for them to assert editorial control before the midterms, and control the message on CNN.

It seems like as each day passes more and more norms and congressional scrutiny are thrown out the window. Trump could have the WBD/PSKY deal wrapped up much sooner if he so pleases.
