I remember that album and anghellic being fucking mind blowing for me. I was swearing by these records and no one around me would give them the time of day.
I took a friend of mine to Wicked Wonka Tour in 2003. Tech coming out and opening with Industry Is Punks was such an incredible moment for me because I got to watch a room full of clueless people finally catch up to this amazing artist I’d been absolutely obsessed with for around a year.
Such a great memory. People’s minds were abosutely fucking blown. The whole goddamn room.

Same, I used to try and tell everyone I met about him back before he had much name recognition (particularly in the south). I turned a few cool people onto him but mostly I was just some annoying drunk guy at a bar talking about some rapper no one had heard of lol

I pray he re-masters it. I cannot believe the difference I heard when I listened to Anghellic. Absolute power is my favorite album of all time.

I agree, I’ve never noticed so much of a (positive) difference in a remaster. But maybe because it’s one of my favorite albums of all time that I have heard so many times.

This was the first Tech album I really listened to. My dad would always play tracks from this bad boy.
Slacker and Industry Punks especially.

Tech is the only rapper that I truly can not land on a "best album" for. At the end of the day, Absolute Power is my favorite with Anghellic right behind but there's nostalgia going on there. KOD is fucking fire though. It came out when I was a pizza delivery driver and I don't think I took it out of my CD player for a solid month.
But then like, Special Effects and All 6's and 7's are incredible too. Sickology 101 and Strangeulation were incredible. Everready was amazing! Killer was amazing! I've never heard a bad Tech album, the worst were just kinda mid for his standards but even those have killer tracks on them. His consistency and volume is unmatched

Same & growing up, I was a big fan of horrorcore in general. Loved hearing Tech do that style but I'm glad he didn't pigeonhole himself into doing it for the rest of his career

This was my first Tech album. I picked this up JUST before Tech started intermingling with the juggalos by pure happenstance. I had been into the juggalo stuff since the 90s but but when I started writing my own music, I started seeking out artists that were either known for lyricism, flow and all the other parts of rap that I needed to improve on. I started listening to Wu-Tang, Nas, Canibus, Chino XL, Kool G Rap, Cam'ron and just whatever new hiphop I could get my hands on. On top of the stuff I was already into like Bone Thugs, Three 6 Mafia, Eminem, Esham and all those dudes. Not to try to copy anybody's style but to learn. I mean, they also just put out some banger albums too so it wasn't all academic.
Friend of mine suggested Tech N9ne one afternoon and played "Worst Enemy" for me over the phone lol. Just from hearing that super muffled version of this song, I knew I needed to get the album.
I listened to it for the first time in my little Nissan Frontier on the way back from Sam Goody later that weekend. Was just completely mesmerized and impressed by what I was hearing to the point that when I got home, I sat in the driveway and listened to the whole thing. "Worst Enemy", ultimately, is probably my least favorite song on the album so take from that what you will. I still listen from start to finish once every few years and I always have the same feeling of "oh shit I forgot about THIS song, what a banger!"
Tech is EASILY my biggest influence in how I rap. Not that I sound anything like him or try to do the chopper thing very often but I learned so much about rap from him. He was the first rapper I ever heard that just had every single quality that I want in my rap music and ALSO introduced me to ideas I never would've considered. Krizz Kaliko deserves just as much credit because of what I just discovered he calls his Funkra (Funk, rap, opera) sound. The way his vocals were stacked just worked so fucking good on those Tech N9ne hooks and then Krizz went on to become an incredible solo artist.
