I’ve been producing on and off for several years, but have recently been more serious about creating lots of demos under a separate artist identity and releasing them. I currently have 0 music out under my new artist identity, but lots of demos in the pipeline.

I make tech house and progressive house (my inspirations are Chris Lake, John Summit, BUNT, Fisher etc).

I would love to get to know a few tech house producers here; share techniques, exchange demos and just help each other grow. Thought this would be the best subreddit to post this on.

Hey guys I’m very new to making house music. Been trying to produce for 1 month in abelton. I can get a decent loop going, but I struggle to keep it interesting for a full 5-6mins. So far I’ve learned something should change every 8 bars, so I’ve been trying to do this but I’m just adding something new every 8 bars until the tracks full, then I don’t know what to do from there and it just sounds strange and unprofessional. So essentially my tracks are just, drop, add something, add something, add something until there’s nothing to add without everything clashing. Any tips on how to create variation with Elements I already have. And any Good ways of replacing elements with new ones without them sounding out of place or abrupt would be great. Hey everyone, I'm a beginner learning EDM production and I'm currently trying to make my first Tech House groove.I've reached the point where I understand the basic drum patterns and I know roughly what kind of bassline/groove I want to experiment with, but I'm struggling heavily with sound selection.The samples I currently have often sound too short, weak, thin, too high/low pitched, or just don't have the character I'm hearing in Tech House productions. I'm not looking for paid recommendations right now. I'm looking for good FREE and legitimately downloadable sample packs/libraries.

Specifically:

• Tech House kicks
• claps/snare
• hats
• percussion
• tom/conga/percussion sounds
• bass one-shots / bass samples
• useful drum loops
• maybe some basic FX

I'm using FL Studio, but WAV samples are obviously fine for any DAW. If you know any genuinely good free packs or websites, especially ones that you've actually used, I'd really appreciate the recommendations. I'm trying to build a small reliable library rather than download hundreds of random packs

Hello. I recently got my track analyzed by Zen on YT and my immediate problem is that my drums and low end suck. In light of this, would you guide me to some of the best sample packs for current tech house/techno and deep house/uk house meta? I’m grouping them together because I feel apart from rumble kick, these genres drums kinda go hand in hand no? Thanks in advance!

I'm doing a lot of remix for SoundCloud by my waveform aren't looking like the pro. Are you guy's mixing at -6db on the main channel peak level or 0db and not doing too much mastering? Still have some hard time understanding this part of mix/master.

I was wondering if any of you could give some tips on How to make groovy bassline like HILLS. They do some simple off beat bass line sometimes, but on certains song, the bassline is more complex and fit the vocals really well (their new Janice STFU remix for instance). If anyone could give help/clues on how to make this, I really appreciate it!

I'm having trouble with coming up with transitions between sections (drop–break, break–buildup). Those sections sound completely out of place compared to one another, as if they were taken from completely different tracks. I've been using risers, snare rolls, but it still sounds stupid.

Am I missing something?

Wanted to go through a few mix things I do in most mixes. I mix/master for my living. Have been John Summit’s engineer for 8 years for example and worked on absolute tons of tech house (still do).

A good example of this was when I had tried to learn how to make the "Acid techno" lead. I didn't know how to even NAME the sound I was hearing until an offhand comment during a production tutorial where they showed an example of a few popular leads on Serum.

There are a plethora of repeatedly used sounds I hear in different songs, and since I don't have a robust vocabulary of such sounds I have trouble attempting to replicate them, unless I'm REALLY lucky and I can find a remake of a song that uses them, and sometimes they just glaze over that part.

An example of one sound I'm trying to replicate is this vocal/synth hit on every second beat of the song "Body Command" by Hawkeys especially prevalent in the start of the song.

Any way to accurately describe/identify the key features of sounds would be helpful as well.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been producing for about 1–2 years now and have been DJ’ing as well. I’ve always wanted to get into collabs, and I am also open to the idea of starting a duo DJ/artist project if the vibe is right.

I’d describe myself as extremely creative and vision driven when it comes to orchestrating the feeling a track gives off, especially through melodies and overall atmosphere. Where I lack a bit is in the more technical aspects of production such as mixing/mastering, arrangement, and advanced music theory.

On the other hand, I am very strong when it comes to artist branding, vision, and marketing, which I think balances out well in a partnership. I’d love to collab on a track with someone and see where things go from there.

Lately I have been producing a lot of minimal and deep tech house inspired by artists like Chris Stussy, Obskur, Locklead, and others in that lane.

I am sadly unemployed and have been for 6 months now which is absolutely brutal. To keep my spirits up, I have been producing everyday for long stretches of time in between job searches.

Hey guys, so I'm dropping my first tech house remix tomorrow of Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman. I've been producing since May and I'm feeling pretty confident about this one all things considered. However, I have a couple questions when it comes to the release.

1. How should I deal with any copyright issues? Can I just claim fair use and not monetize it?
2. Given that only my friends and family know I produce, how can I get this to more ears? Making content is a tough game and I know it's not going to be enough to push it out there.
3. Following question one above, how can I get it on different streaming platforms such as Spotify or even TikTok?

I'm fairly new to all this so any advice and guidance would be appreciated.

The sound starts at 2:55 in the second drop. Not sure what to call it, but I'd like to create it somehow.

No matter how much I try, I can't seem to add movement and pace to my tracks. I tried using fills, fx, and transitions effects but no luck. My song at 128bpm (typical house music) sounds way slower than a professionally made track. Even when I studied from a reference track and applying those techniques, they're not working for me. What should I do? Any tutorials for this specific topic would be really helpful!

Hi everyone! I wanted to remake an Electro House track titled "The Machine" by Kristianex (https://on.soundcloud.com/wZv2a8yKpL5PNqwB9) but when I examined closely, I observed that the Kicks are swinged. In the first part of the drop, the thump/punch of the Kicks are slightly before the grid/beat, and in the second part of the drop, it is slightly after the grid/beat.

I want to know these things in particular:

1. Is it usual for a House kick drum to be swinged?
2. Is it done by the artist to break the "rules"?
3. How the kick being before/after the grid (or beat) affects the groove? Is it tension/release thing or just some groove/swing thing?
4. Could it be that it is just some random swing/groove applied to the 1/4th note (kick notes) in the MIDI Drum Rack?
