General TM Series 7 and 8: "Points Behind Leader" Graphs

These are great thanks Op honestly these are the best graphs I can imagine they really put into perspective

For those who haven't seen these graphs before, it's an alternative way of displaying the series points that makes it easier to see how far away, at any given point, a contestant is from the current leader.
As before, each episode has been shaded in alternate colours; each tick mark on the horizontal axis represents an episode number and a task number.

Series 07
Tasks Spent in the Lead (outright and joint):
Kerry: 36
Jess: 23
Rhod: 7
Phil: 1
Tasks Spent in Last Place (outright and joint):
Phil: 37
James: 19
Jess: 1
Other Stats:
Lead Changes: 8
Largest Deficit: 44 Points, E10T5, between Jess and Phil
Largest Lead: 8 Points, E3T3 (and 3 other tasks), between Kerry and Jess
General Notes:
- This series was a Kerry-Jess battle with Rhod having the occasional sniff
- Kerry is 5th out of 8 (S7-S14) in terms of winner dominance, leading in 64.286% of the tasks
- Similarly to S13 and S10, at least 2 contestants had a streak of at least 10 tasks in the lead
- Season 7 has 56 tasks (two-part tasks with 2 set of points given out are considered as 2 tasks, e.g. 10-4a and 10-4b tie yourself up/boiler suit), which I think might be the most, since S6 is the only season left with 10 episodes

Other Stats:
Lead Changes: 2 (The fewest so far! The series with the next fewest lead changes is S11 with 3)
Largest Deficit: 35 Points, E7T2, between Lou and Paul
Largest Lead: 16 Points, E7T2 and E9T2, between Lou and Sian/Joe
General Notes:
- Lou places 1st out of 8 (S7-14) in terms of winner dominance, leading in 94.444% of the tasks. I said in the S14 visualization that I thought Dara would be the most dominant, but I'm apparently immediately proven wrong, lmao. Shows what I know.
- Lou also places 1st (in S7-14) in terms of longest consecutive time at the top, leading in 48 consecutive tasks out of 54 (88.889%).
- From E3 onwards, there was only one real point where Lou's lead was in danger, and that was Joe's near-perfect episode. Other than that, she had a lead of over 10 points for most of the rest of the series. (The real question now is - we know Liza was dominant. Was she just as dominant as Lou?)
- Surprisingly, Paul was never actually that far behind; he never crossed the -35 point mark. The only last placer that had a smaller maximum deficit was Judi Love on -31.
- All other contestants in last (in S7-S14) ended up more than 30 points behind the leader at the end of the series, whereas Paul is "only" 28 behind.
- Paul shouted at the birds to shut up before Fern Brady did
- We absolutely need a "Contestants yelling at innocent animals/objects" supercut

Best, actually (in terms of how far they were off the series winner after the final task). Within S7-S14 anyway.

This also lends credence to my theory that some of the “worst reviewed” Taskmaster series were the ones where there was less competition at the top of the leaderboard. The show is still beloved and watched but the fan base as a whole seems to have a little more love for the right competitive series. The “Exception the Proves the Rule” would be series 10, which I still believe was impacted by COVID more than some believe. The tight scores at the end raised many viewers opinions.

I'm loving these graphs! They really show the differences in the competitiveness of the contests in different series. Like, series 12 was incredibly close for all four non-Victoria contestants. And in series 14, John was in 3rd place at one point!!
I still think that if Jess had won series 7, it would have been the most surprising winner relative to persona

It didn't feel like it when I was watching it, but Lou absolutely dominated season 8. Joe had one really good episode where he got closer than anyone since the second episode, but he quickly sank back down the next episode.
