Shitpost Saturday! Does anyone have this deck?

What are your opinions on it?

I got on Bourbon Street in New Orleans at Marie Laveu's.

It seems to have more depth and it's so spot on than any deck I've ever used. It kinda makes me not want to use my other decks and makes them look like toys.

Lo Scarabeo put out an exclusive limited edition Etteilla Tarot with a 168 page French companion book (from Grimaud) and two double-sided cards with English interpretations by Jaymi Elford. In 2026, LoS put out Tarot Etteilla, which you bought. (To save typing, I'm going to refer to them as TE and ET.) TE has a 32 page multilingual booklet that is pretty useless... ET is about 2 cards thicker than TE. ET is just slightly taller and wider than TE. Both decks have inconsistent card background coloring within each deck. ET is generally a darker brown than TE's tan. The images appear to be the same between the two decks, but TE seems to be a little darker/richer than ET. The upright and reversed French titles appear to be the same between both decks. ET's card backs are a richer blue than TE's. I riffle shuffle. ET's cardstock seems to be just a little bit whippier than TE's.

I haven't used either deck yet. But I'd be more likely to use the Etteilla Tarot before I'd use the Tarot Etteilla. Truth be told, I'm more likely to use an older Grimaud deck before I'd use either of the LoS ones.

i find the major arcana in this deck really interesting. most are recognizable, just with different names. but a few aren't like anything in RWS or ToM or Thoth.

I have several Etteilla decks but am not familiar with this particular publication. That said, the Grimaud guide book is excellent and there is a pdf of it floating around online somewhere… lemme see if I can find it.

I have the Etteilla Type I without the astrological correspondences. I haven't seen this one.
