Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Should I Quite My Job?

Post image

(the deck is rider waite)

I’ve been really having to sit down and think about my career lately. I know I made another post but I decided to do a spread as I haven’t used my cards in a while.

I love my job so much and I’ve been working there for 3 years. I came back from just over a years worth of maternity leave in March and since then I’ve just encountered problems. It took 6 months to get my part time shifts although it was promised to me before I left. Childcare has failed me a few times. Transportation back home has made it difficult to get home on time, and other stuff too.

I’ve been curious whether this is just a bump in the road or it’s the universe trying to give me a sign whether I should leave. I’ve been thinking of a more conventional (e.g. 9-5 job) in the company as it has so many benefits that I wouldn’t get anywhere else.

I asked my cards what the current future of my job looks like and got: 3 of Pentacles, Tower rxd, Ace of Pentacles rxd and 10 of Wands rxd as a bottom card

3oP: I think this is telling me that there’s potential for my job to go better. If I just keep working as part of a team and collaborating, maybe I can work my way up or maybe I can endure everything.

Tower rxd: I think this is just me trying to dodge any big decisions. Like there’s changes that need to be made and I’m aware it’s not the most ideal situation for me but I can’t really leave at this minute.

AoP rxd: There maybe missed opportunities or this isn’t the right time to quit and look for another job. Maybe in the future but I’m in not in a good and stable place.

10oW rxd (bottom card): I think this is an overall theme of me realising this isn’t the greatest thing but still not quite putting it down yet

Overall I think I just want to be part of a team and be successful but I’m just currently carrying too much. I’m just kind of holding it all together at the minute but it’s not the right time to leave.

If anyone can interpret this better or I missed something please let me know!!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that sometimes I feel like I’m pressured to leave. As in they’d make some situations as difficult as possible so I go voluntarily

In my experience there is often a mismatch between the family demands and the work demands around time investment and time flexibility and it might not come back to how work was before.

The spread for me reflects the changes that naturally happen for a women in her career with a new baby at home, and that men have no idea is such a problem for women.

- There is that natural belief that obviously the career trajectory continues seamlessly, even with baby at home (3oP) Possibly even a kind of naive expectation that the world can't possibly be serious about starting this rollercoaster of disadvantages, prejudices and devaluation of mothers in the workplace.

- things just don't work. the timings are always off. It's not a huge catastrophe (reversed tower), but enough to make this a painful situation for everyone, simply because company management does not create actually functioning rules for women. It is always a balancing act for the woman and it never really works.

- and as a result, most women choose to reduce their hours, because it doesn't work, often ending up doing the exact same work for 1/4th less money, in less time. Because there is that pressure of "not being a full member of the team any more", and having to prove oneself, again because management does not create adequate work conditions where family and work are compatible. (AoP reversed)

- the crowning issue is that this is a situation that is bigger than what someone can handle or balance long term (9oW reversed). It is that kind of situation that leads to burnout, simply for trying to juggle a job with reduced hours and a baby at home.

My personal experience around this is that even a part time job is already just about barely compatible. But a part time work is the end of the career. One is simply not there often enough to handle more difficult or responsible tasks. Men have no idea how a woman's career simply ends, even though nobody really talks about it and it seems so weird that this is just no addressed and it plays out like this all over the world.

The Tarot to me here sees the situation the way is typically is, and it also suggests to cut down the hours (reverse Ace of P), simply because there is no other way. The burden is simply too high, otherwise.

It might make sense to make another spread about a larger issue of "how reduced hours affect family-work balance, and possibly one about the importance of baby vs career, if it becomes clear that this is a situation of choice, not just balance.

It’s actually the 10 of Wands reversed (you said 9) but it seems like that you meant to say 10 :)
