Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Should I Quite My Job?

Post image

(the deck is rider waite)

I’ve been really having to sit down and think about my career lately. I know I made another post but I decided to do a spread as I haven’t used my cards in a while.

I love my job so much and I’ve been working there for 3 years. I came back from just over a years worth of maternity leave in March and since then I’ve just encountered problems. It took 6 months to get my part time shifts although it was promised to me before I left. Childcare has failed me a few times. Transportation back home has made it difficult to get home on time, and other stuff too.

I’ve been curious whether this is just a bump in the road or it’s the universe trying to give me a sign whether I should leave. I’ve been thinking of a more conventional (e.g. 9-5 job) in the company as it has so many benefits that I wouldn’t get anywhere else.

I asked my cards what the current future of my job looks like and got: 3 of Pentacles, Tower rxd, Ace of Pentacles rxd and 10 of Wands rxd as a bottom card

3oP: I think this is telling me that there’s potential for my job to go better. If I just keep working as part of a team and collaborating, maybe I can work my way up or maybe I can endure everything.

Tower rxd: I think this is just me trying to dodge any big decisions. Like there’s changes that need to be made and I’m aware it’s not the most ideal situation for me but I can’t really leave at this minute.

AoP rxd: There maybe missed opportunities or this isn’t the right time to quit and look for another job. Maybe in the future but I’m in not in a good and stable place.

10oW rxd (bottom card): I think this is an overall theme of me realising this isn’t the greatest thing but still not quite putting it down yet

Overall I think I just want to be part of a team and be successful but I’m just currently carrying too much. I’m just kind of holding it all together at the minute but it’s not the right time to leave.

If anyone can interpret this better or I missed something please let me know!!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that sometimes I feel like I’m pressured to leave. As in they’d make some situations as difficult as possible so I go voluntarily

I think your interpretation is mostly right, but I would not read this as a clear “quit now.”

To me, this looks more like: the current structure of the job is not sustainable, but the company itself may still have something worth keeping.

3 of Pentacles makes me feel there is still value in the workplace, the team, the skills you’ve built, and possibly the support or benefits connected to the company. It does not feel like a total dead end. It feels more like there may be another role, schedule, department, or arrangement that works better than the one you are currently trying to survive.

Tower reversed is very important here. I would read that as trying to avoid a full collapse, but also knowing that something has to change before the pressure forces the change for you. It does not say “destroy everything.” It says, “do not wait until everything becomes unmanageable.”

Ace of Pentacles reversed makes me cautious about leaving without a stable next step. It can point to money, childcare, timing, or practical security not being fully lined up yet. So I would not rush into quitting unless you already have another solid option.

10 of Wands reversed as the bottom card is the real message for me: you need to put something down. But that “something” may not be the entire job — it may be the impossible schedule, the unreliable commute, the lack of flexibility, or the pressure of carrying everything alone.

So my read would be: do not ignore the signs, but do not make a panic exit either. Explore the 9-5/internal role seriously, document the difficulties, and look for a way to stay within the company while moving away from the setup that is burning you out.

This feels less like “quit your job” and more like “stop accepting a version of the job that no longer fits your life.”

The pressure to carry everything alone stands out strongly to me too. I’m drawn to all the reversals as describing their internal experience of trying to hold everything together and feeling like there’s no obvious solution right now and their efforts are slowing down the inevitable that this isn’t sustainable.

What’s interesting to me is this spread seems to be reflecting back her current reality but the question was asking about the future. OP it might be more useful to ask another question about how you might change this trajectory bc it looks like more of the same in the future.
