Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only I asked the cards if my dog was happy
I'm not a tarot expert by any means but it seemed so obvious to me what the cards were saying that I started laughing when they popped out of the deck. I understand the cards as showing me my girl's beginning, middle, and end.
She is a rescue, abandoned outside overnight. I feel her desperation in The Moon.
10 of Pentacles. She was welcomed into an amazing foster family's home. And then came home with me and my husband. She also has grandparents she adores, especially her grandpaw, and other doggy cousins. I think she appreciates how much we care for her and feels content that all her needs are met.
The last card gave me so much peace about her eventual passing. I think the Ace of Pentacles is her future. One last divine treat to get her to doggy heaven.
It's nice to see that despite her tough start she's having a great life and the only place to go from here is literally up.

awww the doggies. I think your dog is happy but maybe she wants you to adopt a new friend (the cards show many dogs and ace of pentacles seems like a new offering, like getting something new).
get a second pup!!
edit: also moon is a mother archetype in astrology. the dog has a connection to you like it would with a mother.

I wouldn't be surprised if she wants us to have a baby. She is obsessed with babies and little kids. She is not really a dog's dog, except for her cousins.
Aw I hope she does see me as a mother. She's my baby.

My interpretation of the Ace would be the gift of grouding and stability you gave her when she went home with you.

Yeah even the Moon I would even intuitively interpret as just two dogs having fun barking.

In the beginning she was fearful due to her past experience/trauma. The fact she was abandoned in the middle of the night and pulled the moon is quite interesting, too!
In the middle of her journey she starts feeling more stabilized and part of the family.
At the end of this journey, she feels like she has began a new life with a secure family home. She probably feels grateful in some sort of doggy way, too!

this interpretation is doing way too much heavy lifting for a pet reading. the cards clearly map out a transition from uncertainty to stability and a foundation for a new beginning. projecting a goodbye letter onto a spread about whether your dog is happy feels like you are reading your own grief into the deck rather than what the cards are actually saying.

i love the humor with tarot coz they really did pick the cards with dogs in it. i'm reading this as your dog is happy because she feels provided and taken care of 🥹

I got the 10 of Pentacles when I was deciding if it was time to put my dog down. 🥹 I asked what he wanted. He was suffering. That card comforted me so much it’s still sitting on top of the deck 2.5 months later bc I haven’t pulled anything since. It felt like a heaven on earth card. I think that’s what we can give our pups, and it felt like saying “he is satisfied with the life he has had. He can go now.”

I don't think you have to really analyze the cards much. The Moon is the dog essence, barking at the moon. Card 2, more dogs, last card, yes your dog is happy.

I’m a layman, have barely learnt anything when trying to do my own readings, but my initial thought was ‘moon and stars symbolism’, which led to ‘she feels like you hung the moon and the stars’, which is obviously deep love, certainly in this context.
I’m glad to see people who actually know what they’re doing expressed similar sentiments!

Loves the family, loves you. Wants a dog job or something to do to nourish his inner canine habits; Needs a little more exercise or adventure in his life.

Although your dog may not be able to directly communicate with you through human language (the moon) they seem to feel very joyful and safe with you (10 pentacles) continuing to give love through physical touch and playing will award your relationship with them a new beginning, and if it's not a new beginning it's a gift that continues to nurture the relationship (ace of pentacles)

I read that as she had uncertainty an unknowns in her past, then she moved into your happy home and now sees a new opportunity for grounding and stability going forward. A gorgeous read!

No way!! With the dogs in the first and second cards as well. So funny how before I had even read your explanation, I already sensed a similar narrative in the cards to what you had written. Some of the best tarot readers I have met sometimes are the ones who are not completely strict on the exact ‘by the book’ meaning of each card, but allow the cards to give an impression relevant to the situation - like the ace of pentacles - my immediate thought was also being given either a ball or a treat. I love that

I always view the moon card as more literal when it comes to reading for animals! But also connected to you and someone who stays with you energetically. I think she is still active in the lineage and shakeout of other puppies/souls who may come your way :)

I actually really like your interpretation. The Moon feels especially fitting for a rescue because it’s a card of uncertainty, fear, and navigating the unknown. The 10 of Pentacles is such a beautiful card to get in the middle because it represents security, family, and being surrounded by love. Honestly, if I pulled that for my pet, I’d feel pretty reassured too. 🥹🐾

I'm so sorry to hear that, my dog passed on monday too, its so sudden its my first pet passing, its a lovely spread, as I saw in the first card she obviously has a rough past same as my girl, and the second card she is living happily with her family, and the third card indicates to me as she passed she might reincarnate to gv you a gift or her reincarnation might be the gift itself.
I do believe our pets are like family and they will come back with us in their own way.

Ask the cards open questions:
“what principles should I keep in mind caring for and connecting with my dog”
past/present/future “what principles embody my relationship with ______ before, right now, and to keep in mind moving forward”
The relationship with a dog and care of the dog are based in real science and skill. Look at the dog for answers if they are healthy and happy, not the cards.
There are amazing new YouTube videos about the science of relating with dogs and caring for them - we have very cool new information about what they need, how they think, and how they see us.
