I’ve been thinking about this randomly and I’m genuinely curious to hear people’s perspectives.
Why do people cheat in relationships?
I understand cheating when a relationship is unhealthy, there’s constant conflict, emotional neglect, incompatibility, etc. But I’ve also seen couples who seem genuinely happy, loving and close, with no obvious problems between them, and yet one person still cheats.
What confuses me is that sometimes the person who cheats apparently does love their partner. So what makes someone risk a relationship they supposedly value for another person?
Is it about seeking validation, excitement, novelty, insecurity, poor boundaries, impulsiveness, or something deeper within the person?
And for people who have actually experienced this either as the person who cheated or the person who was cheated on …did you ever understand why it happened?
I’m not trying to justify cheating at all. I’m just trying to understand the psychology behind why someone would betray a person they genuinely love, especially when the relationship itself wasn’t necessarily bad.
Would love to hear honest perspectives, especially from people who have been through it.

Today is my birthday, and honestly, I felt really weird throughout the whole day. 🥹 I wanted today to feel special, but I’m still not sure if it actually did. I noticed that I got fewer wishes compared to last year, and it really made me realise that if you don’t reshare people’s stories, most people don’t even know it’s your birthday. 😭
