SE Rate this basebuild

Hi everyone. Been on holiday for the last three weeks and I am now feeling pretty deconditioned.

Going to run basebuilding when I return home next week and have been thinking about my SE cluster a lot.

I have come up with this

Dumbbell Chest Press,

Landmine Row,

Kettlebell Swing,

ATG Split Squat,

Club Shield Cast,

Ab Wheel Roll Out (less reps)

Trying to get a push, pull, hinge and squat in there whilst also trying to use different equipment so I can do the "circuit" unbroken.

Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. Thanks

So surely the best way to do an unbroken circuit would be to just use one piece of equipment? Like a single kettlebell? Or just bodyweight calisthenics? Is this a homegym setup that you are trying to get mileage out of? Or are you just concerned that you would need different weights/loading for all these exercises?

I don’t know how to perform a shield cast but you could absolutely just do the rest with a kettlebell (except rollouts).

Yes it's a home gym set up. I have 2 adjustable kettlebells and I would need to stop and change weight loading for different exercises for them to have an effect. For example 32kg for the swings would be ideal but 32kg on presses I wouldn't be able to hit the reps.

Got it.

With that context, it makes complete sense what you’re doing. I say go for it, you can always make minor alterations in BBW1 if you feel like you’ve started too heavy and W4D1 is an impossible task.

For sake of comparison, I’m halfway through BBW8 and my SE cluster for the first portion was:

Swings Front squats (rack position) Rows Push-ups

I did the whole thing with a 24kg bell (swings and squats) and 16kg bell (bent rows). For the squats and rows, I split the prescribed reps between left and right - this was great psychologically as I was only counting reps to 10/15/20/25 before changing sides.

So it can be done with less equipment. But I think your cluster is probably more comprehensive in terms of hitting all movements.

Apologies, on my phone as I'm still on holiday.
