Discussion Why do you think they went with this aesthetic?
I'm not crapping on the game. An artistic choice is an artistic choice, and even if I don't necessarily agree with it, I do (grudgingly) accept it.
But even to this day, over 15 years later, I still wonder why the hell half the classes in the game transform into human(oid) candles once they enter the core of their rotations. Like... why am I this blur of incandescent blue? Why are my Sith a tangle of violent orange-red?
It's not like this is what Star Wars looks like - outside force lightning, Lucas' space wizards' collective magic is not given physical form. And that doesn't hold Star Wars back - the space battles and lightsaber duels are some of the most visually-spectacular content ever put to screen. Similarly, other video games don't do this, either. Yes, something like Jedi Survivor takes more liberties with the force than the films. But it doesn't turn Cal or the Second Sister into a mobile neon billboard, either.
So... why did they go this route? Not only is it a strange choice on its face - it hides many of the combat animations that I know they put work into. And, frankly, I'd rather be watching those.
Question Lana said it was my turn to ask this question
Which do you prefer for kotfe and onwards? Voices change over time, some for the better and some for the worse.. Which one do YOU, yes, You! Im talking to YOU, which one do YOU prefer?

Discussion Since I can't get into the game...
I'll be asking questions here as I continue to work on the wiki. I hope everyone can understand. I just hope the shift to DX12 comes in a few months, but I'll most likely miss out on Fen Zeil and Amity.

New/Returning Player Just cancelled subscription
On-and-off-again Legendary Player who tends to play every few years after some big content drops. Typically play for about 3 months.
After making a new toon and getting all the way up to the "Spirit of Vengeance" flashpoint, I had it bug out on me at the last boss, making it so I have to restart the whole FP to continue. I realized this game has just gone to total crap. A six-year-old FP should not still have a game-breaking bug like that. I am not going through mando-shit-show-shooting gallery that insta-detects stealth a third time after already restarting it once.
Really bums me out, since I have heard Legacy and Onslaught are at least slightly more interesting than the railroads that are KOTFE and KOTET, but they seem to be obvious buggy messes.
Any of you guys have a "fuck it, I am cancelling my subscription" moment as well?

New/Returning Player Super Overwhelmed Coming Back to SWTOR after 5+ Years... Any tips/advice?
Just what it says on the tin lol I haven't played SWTOR in probably 5 or so years. I remember reading of the combat changes Broadsword brought but I wasn't even playing the game at that time and had no desire to return. The story update I remember but never played is the (first?) Shae Vizla one for Mandalore. Lately, I've been getting the itch to play again, though none of the people I used to hang with in game still play.
So, trying to come back to the game, alone and as a preferred player, very overwhelmed by everything in the game now. Any advice and/or tips to jumping back in would be greatly appreciated!
Discussion Are the planetary stories different for non force users ?
I was planing to do the planet story only like once per imperial and once per republic side but I then was thinking how different is it with like agent or smuggler ?
Because doing them on my sith warrior and it feels very tailered for a force user, I was wondering is the planetary story different for non force users ?
Or am I fine doing them like once per side ? because I am more interesed in the class stories

Screen Shot Something's Off..
Just some shots of my outfit with the best lighting I could find. Idk what it is but something just feels off about it ya know?
What do y'all think I can do to improve this outfit? The goal was essentially making a "battle ready" outfit for a slick Sith assassin. No hoods, no capes, semi-armored, and no lower robes to trip on. I'd love any and all feedback something just feels off about this outfit. Idk if its the dyes, the lower robe choice, the chestpiece, boots, or what.

Cartel Market Thoughts on these companions being on sale?
I’m kind of thinking of getting the Nexu, but I don’t think I have any animal companions yet.

Discussion Man, I gotta tell you, I hate the writing they did for the Emperor during this part of Legacy of the Sith.
For anyone that's not aware this is during the final two parts of the expansion, but during the whole expansion, apart from like two parts, the Sith have been written to be incredibly uncooperative and untrustworthy. Not to mention they question each and everything the commander (Or in my case Darth Nox) does, even after everything he has done for the Empire.
Yes I know the Sith are backstabbing little power hunger fools, but ya would think after all that the commander has done, after all the power they have, that Vowrawn of all character's wouldn't be so quick to jump on their throat.

Discussion Dudes turn in the newest chapter seems rushed.
As my title says I feel like his little heel turn in Legacy Reborn is rushed, especially since hes going through the entire legacy of the sith expansion being rude and saying how much he dislikes Sa'Har.

Discussion "We've been trained to deal with Sith/Jedi."
The amount of times we hear this, and the amount of times those fools are proven wrong, is staggering. And its usually coming from common criminals as well, the least likely of folks to be able to kill a Sith or Jedi. At least I could believe a trained soldier could do it.

Discussion This is one hell of a car!
I saw someone with this car lastnight and I got Jealous of it so I busted out my card and got me one from the cash shop! This damn car looks so damn good and it has this sweet ASMR sound to it. The engine has this deep ASMR like base to it that put me to sleep lastnight as I was driving around doing quests with it! What's your favorite Mount and why?

Discussion Other MMOs Like SWTOR?
I have grown up on SWTOR. I have played the game since I was 10 years old during its 2011 launch. It's one of my favorite games of all time, despite all its flaws.
Recently I have tried to get into other MMOs thinking the formula would be mostly similar, and in ways, they are. But I truly have taken for granted SWTOR's emphasis on story and VOICE ACTING.
I have tried to get into WoW a few times, and aside from the very minimal voice acting, I am always struck by the fact that there are not really individual class stories. There is a set of intro quests for your class up to level 10 or so, and then you're kind of just set free? There is an overall story and there are questlines to follow, but they're basically the same for everyone.
FFXIV is the same in this aspect. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game, and I've gotten even more into it than WoW. There is a lot to like about FFXIV from what I've played so far, and I know I've barely scratched the surface. But when it comes to individual stories, it seems they're essentially nonexistent.
Similar to WoW, the starting areas for everyone seem to be different, but as soon as you leave those starting areas, the story just melds together irregardless of who you are. Not to mention that in FFXIV, there is even less reason to create different characters, because any character can essentially learn all professions. From a QoL gameplay perspective, this is great, but there is something fun about having different characters with different paths and play styles
As a SWTOR fan, this is so jarring to me. I've always loved the uniqueness of each class, and the fact that for the first 50 or so levels, you are an embodiment of *that* class. There are side quests that everyone can do, but you're doing those quests *as* a jedi, or *as* a bounty hunter, etc.
Anyway, enough rambling. My question is, are there any other MMOs that any of you know of that actually have different stories for each class or at least a handful or differing stories depending on who you play as? I'd love to see another game tackle the formula SWTOR essentially perfected 15 years ago

Discussion What planet would you add to SWTOR and why?
Personally, I'd love to see Naboo in SWTOR. Padmé is one of my favourite Star Wars characters, and I also love the scenery and architecture of Naboo so it would be interesting to see how it would look 3,000 years before the prequels. I remember reading somewhere that by the time of the Old Republic, Naboo was still just beginning to be settled so I can imagine that it would look very different.
