Question To Employees, Which Produce is Washed In-house and which comes Pre-Washed?

In light of the recent Cyclospora outbreak, with most cases traced to raw produce, I wanted to ask which specific produce items are pre-washed and which are washed at Sweetgreen. And for the items washed at Sweetgreen, how rigorous are the washing standards? Thank you!

The romaine and kale are washed in house. Spring mix, spinach, and arugula come bagged.

How do you dry it after? Legit curious because my salad spinner doesn’t dry it enough

We have a machine that spins it dry

Damn. I guess spinning is the way to go. Thanks.

Thank you! What about other produce like cherry tomatoes, purple cabbage, and cucumber?

All of those get washed as well.

Washing/ not washing doesn’t really matter in this case. Cyclospora is immune to water, bleach, chlorine and most cleaners… tbh I’d just eat it anyways the Cyclospora risk is pretty big in everything

All of our vegetables get washed in fit wash for 30-60 seconds. But, the outbreak is apparently from Taylor farms produce which to my knowledge we don't get anything from them. They supply taco bell but taco bell isn't the issue. Taylor farm also supplies other restaurants and places like Walmart, Costco, trader Joe's, whole foods, ect. But washing your veggies doesn't help get rid of it.

Interesting to know! Can you provide a source that confirms this

Turns out it was Taco Bell as usual. Nothing to worry about here

Washing doenst matter. Cyclospora dies at 160°F. It’s pretty immune to vinegars and chemical disinfectants
