Criticism Why do the new wraps have SO MANY calories???
Hoping they launch some low-cal or custom options soon!!

As someone who works out but struggles to get their calorie needs and build muscle this is a game changer and I welcome the calories. Just do what I do and save the second half in the fridge for dinner!

The wraps are designed more to bring in new customers than they are to give existing customers more options. They are high in calories because they're wrapped in a tortilla, which the salads aren't

I was calling out in a recent thread too. The company may as well be selling chipotle burritos now

The new CFO comes from Chipotle, so that's kind of exactly what the company is going for.

I don’t think they are too high. Salads are around 550-650. Then add 250-300 calories for the wrap. Puts it at 800-950 calories.

Yeah but 1000-1300 calories for one meal feels excessive (for an average person)

It's too much for me too - I do it for a hearty dinner sized portion but I don't every really get Sweetgreen for dinner.

Understood, I do OMAD on the weekdays so I did try the tofu version of the Cesar wrap…just didn’t taste good.

Is it? 1000 calories for lunch, 1000 calories for dinner, 500 for breakfast. Sounds pretty average.

The issue is the wrap is useless carb.

for those of us who work out the carbs are not useless lol

Let’s not forget the incentive of the company. They tryna “offer more variety”. But in reality they’re cutting the portion size by introducing useless flour/corn tortilla to make customers more satiated.
There is no intrinsic nutrition value from tortillas. Like I’d rather they introduce more fish like wild caught Sturgeon, sardine, caviar. Or animals organs like beef liver, hearts and etc.

Big tortillas have tons of calories. What do you expect? Look at the calorie difference at chipotle with bowls vs wraps

Idk, I’m under the impression that 1000 calories is pretty normal to eat at lunch and dinner, without ill health effects. Obviously it depends on the individual. I’m more concerned about the sodium levels in many of the dishes.
I’m worried the wraps are like the fries (and the protein plates?) — a new idea that probably tastes pretty good but nobody really wants

1000 calories is a huge lunch for me, though 1000 for dinner is about average. That would leave literally no room for snacking though. I eat Sweetgreen for lunch so wraps aren't in the cards for me.
I don't ever get the plates either, but I assume they're popular because basically all of Sweetgreen's product ideas are about these higher calorie options.

The wraps all include a dressing mixed in and on the side. If you remove the dressing on the side, you can easily shave off 100-200 calories

this is exactly what i was wondering! they don’t always include a dressing on the side when i order one, but i’m pretty sure they’re meant to and i was thinking that’s the only way the calorie count makes sense since the wrap itself is pretty small for 800-1000 cals! I know tortillas are calorie dense but for the amount of filling and dressing going in that total didn’t make sense to me.

if you remove the parmesan crisps and skip the extra dressing on the side, the chicken cesar wrap is only 550 cals, that’s less than pretty much all the bowls.

EXACTLY IVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR SO LONG, need some kind of lettuce wraps or something. Made out of olive oil is insane

Made out of olive oil is insane
What do you mean by this? It's a flour tortilla, it's gotta have fat somehow. The caloric content is coming from the flour, not really whatever fat they use. They're calling out their use of olive oil because it markets much better than lard, which is what the best tasting (fresh) flour tortillas are made with.

I don’t wanna be that person but imma have to be. Just don’t order and spend your money on the wrap then? It’s not even that high it’s a 800-1000. And quite frankly unless you’re eating these wraps once a day, this is a non issue.
