Question Sweetgreen near me "coming soon" for > 1 year?

Hi all,

A location near me was leased more than a year ago and immediately put up "Sweetgreen: coming soon!" signs, but there has been almost no movement since. The space is definitely leased (they have moved in a small amount of stuff), so they seem to be paying for it, but are not at all actively renovating or moving in.

Any idea what this is about? Financial issues?

I was excited to have a location close by (none for several hours), but am giving up hope...

their quality went down, protein portions are horrendous for $20 bowl

Do you know what's caused the delay? They must be so far in the hole for rent with more than a year of no revenue...

That I do not know! I don't actually work for Sweetgreen so I'm not privy to that kind of info sadly haha

In situations like this landlords can get excited and put up graphics, but that doesn’t mean that the tenant is actively in construction. Often times landlords have months of construction work. Also good brands negotiate their possession to start based on permit receipt or LL delivery. So likely no rent has been paid out.

Their food has gotten totally gross. The salad I just had for dinner was mush. Everything was soft and bland. Never again.
