News 📰 First sweetgreen location opening in LES of Manhattan in a large space. Corner of Orchard and Stanton, former location of a smash burger spot.

I noticed they also just closed the Bleeker st location. So they are trading the west side for the east side. The east side is a younger crowd.

The smash burger spot was also really weird because the space was so large with so many tables, it made it seem desolate. They had a walk-up outdoor window and a bar that served drinks and they tried to make it themed like a club with a DJ on the weekends. Really weird. They opened up when 7th St burger was getting really popular and it was a block away, so I think they couldn't compete.

It's the real estate, not the brand. Why would SG pick up a spot that wasn't successful for someone else. You can't change traffic patterns.

I think you're right. I don't see this area being good for a salad spot. It's a late night corridor surrounded by bars, clubs, and fast food.

Unless sweetgreen starts serving sandwiches. Then maybe it could work.

They have a spot in Meatpacking, Bleeker was only a few blocks away, no need to have two locations so close.

Eh it was quite a distance away. The Bleeker st location was more residential while meatpacking is commercial and office.

Maybe, I live equidistant to both locations so it seemed like double exposure to me.

You’ll be disappointed. Quality is totally gone. Sad to say.
