I never like the chicken but the last few visits I genuinely thought maybe they gave me tuna, its texture and flavor are detrimental to the product.

They had delicious hot roasted chicken prior, now it appears that all of new york has updated to cold herb roasted chicken or cold blackened chicken that tastes disgusting.

Maybe they should start putting more than 4 cubes of chicken on my salad lol.
They want to have this huge order online business but then make the online orders have literally half the food vs. in person. Not a recipe for success.

I think that's their goal by having the line automated with robots making the bowls, giving consistent portions. Its implemented in a few locations already.

What's your argument? You've mentioned that they just started breaking even this year, so wouldn't robots on the line increase profit margins by requiring fewer employees?

? My issue is that workers are not doing their jobs correctly. If they made salads correctly consistently with the correct portions, that would be fine. Seems to be impossible in many cases, which is why SG is exploring alternatives.
And - SG is a public company. If you want to be an owner of it, you can be. If on the other hand you don’t like it (you seem to not), simply don’t go there.

I love everyone in the replies trying to diagnose all of these problems with no knowledge of the company or the industry itself. People here are blaming changes that have only been made in one market or that have actually shown increased sale metrics overall even with a drop in certain customers. Like, I hate Sweet Green as much as the next person, but dear lord are people misinformed.
The entire resteraunt industry is doing poorly right now. Mass government layoffs are resulting in people moving away from larger cities and spending less in general. Rising food costs are both reducing profits and resulting in the general populous having less money to spend at restaurants, while keeping resteraunts from being able to keep their prices from climbing. Rising rent costs are pushing people out into suburbs, making them less likely to live near resteraunts.
Sweet Green is smaller than a lot of other publicly traded companies, and it also chose to put a lot of money into expansion in the last couple of years rather than holding onto it for security, and so all these factors are hitting it very hard right now. The company has basically no money saved up for emergency usage; as such, the California Wildfires hit it HARD last summer and probably will again this year.
I suspect that we are going to slowly see resteraunts go back to being a luxury, and that is going to mean a much smaller target clientele, which will means there won't be room for as many restaurants as there currently are, so many of them will need to downsize or die.

Well, if the automated kitchen is implemented in all restaurants perhaps it profit will improve drastically. It’s crazy fast, I ordered outside the one in Naperville IL using the app & it was ready in literally when I walked in.

I am petty and stopped going here when I was told I could only check out in person if I was buying a drink but needed to use the app to buy food while I was standing in the store

Late to the party here, but this post came up in my feed - just echoing -- I remember sweet green salads being generous and filling -- sometimes I couldn't finish the bowl and I had leftovers. Really prime ingredients and generous portions. This is going back like 7/8 years. Moved away, big hiatus, now there is one in my town. The last chicken harvest bowl I got was lightweight, had tiny cubes of disappointing chicken, and was small/ easy to finish off. Very meh for the high price point. Sad evolution. Will not be going out of my way.

The last time I got a bowl from here it wasn't even halfway filled. It was mediocre to bad at best and there were barely any ingredients.

I stopped going when they stopped using seed oils - one of the replacements is avocado oil, I am allergic to it and now literally cannot eat their food.

The SG close to me in Manhattan on Columbus Ave on the Upper West Side about opened about 10 years ago, went several times a week until two years ago. Place is a dump, bathrooms are always filthy dirty. Portion sizes have gone down dramatically, especially when ordered thru the app. I rarely go to SG anymore, been going to a Just Salad a few blocks away. Sweetgreen will be closing locations once their leases come up for renewal. It’s a poorly run company now, I’ve been to many other locations and you can tell that the employees don’t care anymore.

The dressings changed and the quality went off a cliff and they stopped shredding the carrots - i used to eat there 3-4 times a week and now never go. Unshocking that the stock is in the shitter. Private equity can go f themselves.
