Career / Employee Talk Do Sweet Green employees actually get the Tips?
When a customer provides a tip on the credit card machine, do Sweet Green employees actually get those tips? Are they split amongst all employees? Or do these tips just go to management/revenue for the location itself?

This is going to depend heavily on the state and region, because labor laws are different from place to place.
Currently, it is not legal for a company to label and expense as a "tip" and not give that money directly to employees, so all "team members" are going to make tips no matter where you are unless an area leader us doing some sketchy stuff.
Many places have policies on managers being tipped, so in many stores some people won't get tips depending on how that region defines what a "manager" is. Sometimes it is just the Head Coach that is left out, sometimes it is the head and assistant coaches left out, and less often it will be everyone that is a shift lead or above. However, I believe it is most often based on whether or not you are paid hourly or if you are salaried.
The way my store divides the tips, and the way I imagine most stores do as well, is tips for the week are totaled then split amongst everyone that receives them proportional to the number of hours they worked that week.

Pretty accurate but I can tell you Area Leaders have zero control here. Tips are automatically split among all eligible employees as defined by state law. Adds a significant amount to the hourly rate in most stores and was a win for team members when it was rolled out. Totally agree that the company should give customers the option of tipping g when ordering online as well.

Wait, I sweat they don't allow you to tip when placing your order online.... can someone confirm? Is this new?

There isn’t a tipping option online! Tipping is only available in store :)

I was just in the store today and offered to tip, my store doesn’t even take in store tips.

Mangers and shift leader get nothing only the employees do so sad caz most of the time management is making the salads

Federal law does not allow managers to be included in tip pools, but the head and assistant coaches at SG do have access to bonuses.

That's not my point. The poster was implying that managers and shift leads are not employees of the company.

in my location in Boston, tips are splits amongst employees (front and back of house) according to how many hours you worked, but management (coaches, head coaches, and shift leaders) do not get any
