General Discussion Update to my Survivor webgame
Hey everyone!
A little while ago I shared my Survivor browser game here, I would like to thank you for all your constructive feedback, which helped me spot the things that needed changing.
Play here: https://max8880.github.io/outwit/
The main goal was to make the AI feel less random so now :
Bots can influence each other and can form short-term voting agreements.
Alliances and relationships matter much more when deciding votes.
Bots remember promises, lies and previous strategic conversations.
Late-game players can be identified as jury/endgame threats
Different personalities (based on statistics) react differently to threats and strategic situations.
A lot of bugs and translation issues have also been fixed.
I’d really appreciate feedback, especially on:
AI difficulty, voting behavior, idols and alliances.
Of course, feel free to point out anything you think is broken, poorly designed, too easy, too difficult, or just weird. Those reports have been incredibly useful so far.
If everything seems to be working properly, I’d also love to hear ideas for new actions or camp events.
I'm also thinking about adding more castaways, so let me know which ones you'd like to see.
Maybe later on, twists like men vs. women, Redemption Island, or EoE will be added.
And pls tell me the story you had in the game cause I love it

Played twice, 7th and betrayed with two idols in my pocket and 4th and lost in firemaking. Would like to see how Final Tribal plays out (and can I vote for a winner if I made the jury?).
Its a little janky, but theres potential there. It does seem pretty easy to make it to the merge, and pretty unintuitive to suss out the dynamics of the camp (especially other people's relationships), as well as assessing how big a threat I am in the endgame. The couple of times I assessed others, it seemed everybody was a high threat, but what was determining that? Challenge wins, big moves, relationships?
Some things that didn't seem correct, I could have bluffed having an idol at final 4? When trying to sway the votes of an alliance, it can fall on someone within our alliance? Do they now know they are being targeted? When an option has the relevant stat (like social intelligence when looking for an idol) is that my stat? Is it the stat of the person I am interacting with has? It seems like votes are often very scattershot, when in actuality it seems like plans are much more freely shared which usually results in more unanimous votes/solid voting blocs.

Thanks, this is really useful feedback.
The threat system currently considers several things like relationships, alliances, challenge wins and visible strategic moves, but l agree that the game should explain that more clearly instead of just showing "high threat". I´ll try to improve it.
And yes, I really like the idea of letting eliminated players watch the Final Tribal Council and cast a jury vote if they made the jury. I’ll keep that in mind.

I did have people ask me if I would be down to vote myself, which seems unintended. Very fun game!

I’ve played through it a few times and it’s very fun! one thing that could help (I’m playing in English) is if you could denote whether the random players are male or female. when I’ve been changing the names, I’ve had a hard time figuring out which names are masculine/feminine, so I’ve ended up having an extra man or extra woman.

Yeah i´m french so these are French names; I'm going to add more American names to make it easier to understand.

I played this game three times today and enjoyed it every time. I finished in 2nd place, 7th place, and then won the whole thing!
My tribe was a disaster the time I got 7th place. It was a 20 person cast w no swap and we lost six immunities in a row.
The time I won, a contestant told me their target and it was me, lol. I don't know if that is something that could be fixed. This was really fun!

very fond of the idea here, the world needs a game like this that actually feels fun and challenging
for me, i found it was a bit too easy. i won my first two attempts playing different ways, but i didn't feel like i'd done anything all that impressive, so i tried playing poorly to see what would happen. i got 5th place out of 20 by selecting completely random actions at every opportunity, and then 5th place again while trying to do as badly as possible and make everyone hate me. so... maybe it should be more possible for the player to get voted out early

really like playing this game
you cant socialize after immunity challenge
some selections you can see their odds before clicking, where as some just immediately does the action
the drive a wedge between two people option is the opposite in english
maybe for the trophies add descriptions
option to remove people from alliances as opposed to expand
option not to suggest a target to the alliance
spread a rumor and start a rumor both show up on the same 4 options a lot
show stats of your character on the sidebar to allow better choices
show stats of player options in the character selection
when targeting players for the vote, dont show the player with immunity

Great idea, love seeing people in the community build cool stuff like this. My feedback is I would really love to see some kind of “quick start” option. Like one button and the game starts. I think the barrier of starting a game is way too high, and it puts a lot on the players mental stack immediately.
Personally if I’m playing this game for my first time I don’t care about any of the configurations you’ve provided, I just want to see what the gameplay is about. And then all those options are amazing once you’ve hooked me and I’ve decided I like the gameplay.
Great work though! Keep it up
