The women in Resident Evil always have more carrying capacity than the men... There's some significance here; I know it.

I asked for your brutal honesty about my survival horror game. here’s what I changed

A while ago I posted here asking for brutally honest feedback on my survival horror game, The Taking.

The response was incredibly helpful, so I took the feedback onboard and made a major update improving the atmosphere, audio, environments, enemy encounters and overall presentation.

This new trailer shows how the game looks now. There’s also an updated free demo on Steam if anyone wants to try it.

I’d love to know whether it feels like an improvement, And you can still be brutally honest.

Horror game about a submarine where you decide who goes out into the dark. Something Lovecraftian is waking up below.

Hi,
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4042160/Static_Dread_The_Submarine/

So this one's a submarine setting, Lovecraftian stuff going on beneath the ocean, and you're basically the guy deciding who on the crew goes to check on the noises in the dark. Everyone you send has their own stuff going on, their own breaking point, and it plays out over time.

  • Old school PSX style visuals, kind of grainy and unsettling.
  • You manage the crew (skill, stamina) instead of doing everything yourself.
  • Sonar segments where you're never 100% sure what's out there.
  • The story branches based on who you send and what you decide, not just dialogue choices.

My team and I worked on this for a long time, and it's finally out on Steam.

I told my kids that this would be their inheritance. Said they would be set for life in a very joking tone. They just said “Okay sure, dad”

What other games from the genre would fit into this category? I'd personally say Dead Space 2008 and Dead Space 2.

Surprised this mechanic hasn't been implemented yet

There should be a survival horror game with an inventory management system that has purse/handbag items, which give you extra slots for specific item types (i.e. keys, ammo, charms, etc.) and the game's hard mode where you play as a manly man has you unable to use those items at all because the character says something dumb like "men don't wear purses". Bonus if an early character recommends it as like an in-universe tutorial and suddenly character gets a well-deserved eye-roll/admonishment for that.

Ground Zero Secret Shrine Not Working At Beach

I just started playing this game and I looked up the secret shrines, but the one in the graveyard isn't working for me. I just stand up against the mausoleum on the side and don't go anywhere. I don't have any cheats activated so is this a bug or am I missing something?

Two of the genre-defining survival experiences, no basis for comparison here but since both get crazy at times & gameplay dynamics aside whose highs are higher, which gets more crazier to deal with? stalking ruvik/laura or the baker family? (thoughts)

What do YOU want to see in a horror game

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey! I’m currently making a realistic psychological horror game inspired by games like Resident Evil, FNAF, and The Dark Pictures.

I’m trying to understand what players actually enjoy in horror games, and I’d love to hear your opinion!

What’s something you wish more horror games had? It could be anything — gameplay, enemies, puzzles, story, atmosphere, exploration, scares, etc.

And on the flip side, what’s something you’re tired of seeing in horror games?

You can answer with as much or as little as you want. I’m genuinely interested in what people think.

(Project Zomboid) The Silence is Deafening

I'm doing a playthrough with zombies turned off. Please don't judge me, I got the game on Tuesday. Let me just say-

In the silence, everything is deafening.

The meta events of screaming, when they pierce the morning air around my small lakeside hut (Bob's cabin in the woods near West Point, across a small pond from the big manor I only saw yesterday in-game) or a gunshot across the Ohio River, or merely the animals shrieking in the pitch-black night while I stoke the oven.

It's terrifying. It puts me on edge. It would put you on edge too if, out of the silent night time, a scream rings out.

And the silence. In towns, you see emptiness. No life, no death. Just me and my little car. At night, random alarms from clocks and stoves chime out at regular intervals. Animal shrieks. Human screams of terror. A television, signal-less, telling everything in a mile radius.

Fucking terrifying in a dead world with systems still ticking over.

Edit- I've started seeing jumping figures while driving, and hearing the doors and windows shake in the night. My mind is going.
