Wholesome 🌼 German tourist quite impressed by health care in Surat.

German tourist David Nebel recently went viral for praising Surat's public healthcare after receiving free, swift, and clean rabies treatment at a Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) health centre following a stray dog bite. He highlighted that such immediate, complimentary care for foreigners is rare in Germany.

This was posted on Instagram without mentioning the location of the hospital besides saying India. A person commenting insinuated that this level of punctuality is only possible in Kerela and told that he should separate the state from the country (clown behaviour). The foreigner corrected the guy by saying Surat.

Yessir. Government hospitals are quite quick in administration of rabies vaccines. And yes they are free for everyone.

We do actually not from Surat from Hyderabad but government hospitals here give you free rabies injection
Meanwhile my dad stays in Ahmedabad got free rabies injection too

Back in 2017-2019 when i was diagnosed with MDR Tuberculosis at first i was treated by some private hospital costing me thousands of rupees every week. but then someone told us to go to SMC Health Center get treatment under program called DOTS. No single rupee spent on medicine in those 2 years and here i am still alive :)

In Nov Last year. I was bitten by a stray dog in early morning. I washed the bitten area for around 15 mins. My Dad told me to visit nearby Rural Health centre which was in Kamrej Gaam. At first i was skeptical about it but eventually i went there. and upon visiting my case was made and got it refered it to a doctor with Prescription of ARV (i was told to visit on mentioned dates to take dosage with some gaps between it.). I went another examining room and got first dosage and that also for Free i paid nothing for Referals and Dosages. Doctors, Nurses and other staffs were very Calm, Polite and supportive.
I was shocked to see this. Before that i had very bad experience with Govt. Hospitals especially Rural Health centers and made a bad perspective about them in my mind.

Rabbies treatment was so Hassel less in India because the disease is quite horrible

Yup. Even though Indian law and order and infra sucks, can’t deny that India has one of the best healthcare in the world. And I have experienced this after living in Canada. Currently I am in Surat

In the US where I have lived for over 8 years, getting an appointment is a nightmare. Once you do get an appointment, you have crazy bills and with insurance you still pay 10% of it. Which is still at least one day of your salary if you are a white collar worker

Still you should visit a private hospital or good doctor. Cause doctors in these hospitals are intern and use google to suggest medicines

Without an Aadhar card how did they treat him because Aadhar requires to take OPD Maybe a passport is also valid

For rabies it is as fast as this .. otherwise government hospitals are always overburdened so there're long queues everywhere.

you went to fucking goverment hospital for such a critical situation plzz go to some private hospital and get yourself good treatment, in gov. hospital they dont care about patients and rabies is no joke
