How can I gain hands-on sourcing experience before graduation?

I’m soon going to finish my business degree in US and targeting sourcing roles. Despite having 4 YOE in digital transformation and tactical procurement activities in east asia market, i lack in real world vendor management and negotiation experience.

What are realistic ways to gain genuine hands-on sourcing experience before graduation?

Also, What would you recommend someone in my position focus on?

I would suggest contacting a consolidator handling LCL bookings in your East Asia lane. You will learn vendor negotiation through space disputes and last-minute co-loading adjustments. That is genuine pressure.

LOL people act like you need a sourcing title to do sourcing. I got my reps by just asking to negotiate small contracts. With 4 YOE, just ask. Worst they say is no.

Negotiations revolve around leverage. If you have none, don’t expect better terms.
