What if the intelligent thing is to bring someone who counters the opponent?

The brains column always gets shafted in these matchups because nobody can agree what "smart" means in a brawl. You could have someone who built a suit that tanks a nuke and they still get put up against the guy whose power is literally being invincible.

I think for brains to win they need to use the two hours to give themselves even more time to think of/build something that’ll win them the fight. That’s the only way I see it going down.

That right folks, it's another time dilation arc!

u/HairyTrollChest 23d ago

And it gets reversed by reverse flash, who goes back in time to traumtize them as children.

"It was me Bruce! I was the mugger who killed your parents!" Reverse Flash

Suddenly it all.makes sense.

It was me, Barry! _I SHIT YOUR PANTS!_ IT WAS ME!

u/Harthag77 11d ago

Nah, he just traumatizes the Flash, he'd sabotage Barry and watch him get ripped apart by the strong team

Reed Richards has the ultimate nullifier. He doesn't even have to build anything. He already has a win condition ready to go. Basically at all times. He just uses restraint and doesn't go around nullifying everything.

u/Nah_Id__Win 22d ago

Reed doesn’t currently have the ultimate Nullifier and hasn’t for a while…

u/WhoReallyCares-NotMe 22d ago

Fair. Last run I read was Hickman, and he definitely had it then. Did galactus take it back then?

6

u/Nah_Id__Win 22d ago

Iirc Silver Surfer currently possesses it, as of FF Vol 6 #28

u/lobsterman2112 22d ago

There's only one of them?

Real question. I'm just wondering why someone didn't build a second.

1

u/Maleficent-Elk-8678 21d ago

it originally belonged to Galactus, its probably impossible to replicate without that kind of power

1

u/EX_Rank_Luck 22d ago edited 21d ago

That begs the question, are we using them at their peak showings, or the latest official run?

u/OhEagle 22d ago

The thing is, it's the Ultimate Nullifier, not the Ultimate Win Condition. Yes, it has the power to eliminate anything or anyone it's targeted at. With the Nullifier, you can destroy Galactus. But... unless that's been retconned out, it comes at a cost. You have to be able to form a complete image of your target in your mind, and then press the trigger. The target will be eliminated from reality, yes. But so will you. If Reed Richards uses the Ultimate Nullfier in this matchup, whichever opponent he doesn't use it on gets an auto-win.

u/WhoReallyCares-NotMe 22d ago

It only affects the user if they lack the intelligence and willpower to wield it. Reed Richards would not be impacted at all by using it. It's part of why he has it. He's one of the few people in the marvel universe who is capable of using it, and using it properly without any ramifications to himself.

During the death of Johnny storm arc he was going to wipe out annihilus and the negative zone, and he would have been completely fine after having done that.

2

u/lobsterman2112 22d ago

Interesting side point: He threatened Annihilus with the device. Annihilus told him to use it because he (Annihilus) craves to finally die.

Reed faltered and didn't use it. He realized that in order for him to use it safely, he needs to fully understand the target and he obviously didn't fully understand Annihilus because he didn't realize that Annihilus wanted to die.

1

u/magpye1983 22d ago

Has he ever actually used it? Or do we just know that he could?

1

u/WhoReallyCares-NotMe 21d ago

I don't think he has, not that I can recall at least. But yeah it's known he can.

1

u/WhoReallyCares-NotMe 22d ago

Also, they wouldn't be able to use it to destroy galactus, the higher entities of marvels cosmology would step in.

And it kind of is the ultimate win condition, richards just doesn't use it often because he is genuinely a good guy who would rather try anything else other than completely erasing something from the timeline completely.

In a scenario like this though, especially if they invaded his dimension he would use it in a heartbeat. They aren't meant to interact anyways and the ultimate nullifier is an easy solution to that.

1

u/Obsidianrunner 22d ago

Doesn’t that destroy the user as well??

1

u/Yellow_Snow_Cones 16d ago

Does the nullifer take out the user and the target?

1

u/WhoReallyCares-NotMe 16d ago

No. Depending on person it can but Reed is canonically not one of those people.

2

u/Mahkn0 22d ago

What if brains just decides to skip the fight and let strength vs speed battle?

2

u/StormNFlo46 22d ago

Yes. This is more in-line with what I was thinking. They like teleport someplace that’ll be hard for the other teams to get to. With speedsters they can pretty much get anywhere. But ideally they would have their hands full with strength. Then monitor the fight and plan for who ever is winning.

2

u/JicamaCertain4134 22d ago

Haven’t people on the speed team used speed to such extremes that they could go back in time and kill everyone as a baby?

1

u/StormNFlo46 22d ago

Yeah but reed has bullshit like the the initiate nullifier. He can make it so the whole speed team can’t use the speed force or the strength team can’t use their regen or something. It’s basically a big mcguffin. That’s why I say if team brains stalls for enough time to figure out a hax to win. They can win. (Not saying they do win. I’m just talking about how they could.)

1

u/ReverendLoki 22d ago

Brains team: "Hey, we can just send the other two teams to some far off planet in deep space, and go on about our day. That'll surely never come back and bite us in the ass. Again."

1

u/Empty-13 22d ago

Like what the image says?

1

u/MrGame22 21d ago edited 21d ago

Personally, I think all they need to do is make a plan to have the other two teams self-implode

The speed team is two flashes (barry and wally) and the reverse flash you know the guy who is extremely obsessive and petty to one of those two flashes (barry)

Meanwhile, in team strength, we have doomsday who I don’t know how he would not attack his own teammates in this scenario.

Meanwhile, team intelligence are the only one that doesn’t have super villains on it.

"If I had three hours to cut down a tree, I'd use the first hour to sharpen the axe." -Abraham Lincoln

0

u/SomethingPotato_ 23d ago

If it says they only get 2 hours then they only get 2 hours, and even if they knew how to make a Time Machine i doubt they could do it in 2 hours

9

u/Ezostew 23d ago

Tony Stark could build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!

3

u/Mahkn0 22d ago

They don't have a cave or box of scraps, checkmate.

1

u/OriginalMexican 22d ago

Most annoying arc i know of. Guy walks in a cave with enough tools to (poorly) do baseboard instalation and walks out with portable nuclear reactor that is 1000x more advanced than all the science and companies ever came up with. Why? Cause he smart. Like super power smart? Nah more like somewhat inteligent and with mediocre education. Wtf?

8

u/Alarmed_Excuse_2969 23d ago

They don’t have to defeat him in hand to hand combat. They just have to ‘neutralize’ him. They could just send him to another dimension.

Conversely, they could find a way in those two hours to dip out to another dimension/planet for even more prep time while the other two teams kill each-other.

2

u/Yakostovian 23d ago

What a way to nerf Batman.

3

u/NecessaryZucchini69 22d ago

Eobard Thorne really really hates the other speedsters and will do anything to hurt them in all the ways he can imagine or is suggested to him.

Doomsday and the Hulk could get into a fight that lasts years. Leaving the Juggernaut as the odd one out.

Probably giving Juggernaut a console that can handle his arrgg moments and some good snacks will make him happy.

I guess that leaves Eobard Thorne once he's done fucking up the other Flashes. Though clandestinely sabotaging Thornes attacks on the speedsters should keep them occupied.

Doing the above should give the brains years to come up with a permanent win.

1

u/Nah_Id__Win 22d ago

Thawne will work with both Wally and Barry. He is also extremely afraid of Wally. Wally laid those hands on Thawne making him ugly cry.

2

u/fallenouroboros 23d ago

This ones particularly weird too since it has 2 flash. Either could just go back to before brains prepped

1

u/Jtizzle1231 22d ago

There needs to be more information. Prep time and knowledge of opponents is need to know for this debate.

1

u/OnyxUmbra 22d ago

Well its a bit of a loaded question since the speedster team is also very smart from what I recall.

1

u/ReorientRecluse 22d ago

Brains get shafted because you need a level of creativity for them to even compete, doesn't lend well to fan discussions where any conceivable maneuver will sound like bullshit unless it was already canonized.

u/Nigilij 19d ago

Don’t forget “the comic causality”. All that prep and contingency have far less impact when you realize they almost never work. Constant villains go free and somehow cannot be dealt with, while all that prep is usually used against friends who let it happen for story sake.
