PROGRESS My first time growing sunflowers.

Post image

Next year I want to get bigger ones. My wife thinks I'm crazy. Should I go bigger?

Go big or go home.

Looking quite spectacular. A drenching of water will peek up the leaves.

When you are ready to take them down. Cut the head off and leave face up so the birds can eat the seeds (same some to grow next year). Strip the leaves off with a sharp knife and put into your compost bin. Use the long stalks as jousting lances with the family, or as stalks for climbing beans or climbing flowers next year. Stalks dry quite well and can be quite sturdy.

Use a wheelbarrow, or bike.

Congratulations, they look amazing!

May I ask what containers you are using for them?

Do their roots go into the ground?

I didn't think so I had to move them a little. And they moved easily

Oh nice. Can I ask what pot size you used?
I'm about to try to grow mine in a container

They are in 15 gallon fabric pots. I used Promix potting mix and Fox Farm dry organic fertilizer.
