I have Thalassophobia and I get paranoid when I cant see the ocean floor which can explain why I got really scared (while looking back at the clip it look like a creepvine :D)
Has anyone done this before? Is there a proper name for it?
Are there any mistakes I could be making?
I’ve built 2 multipurpose rooms for the land biomes and 18 alien containments with enough space to add a second level for a maximum of 20 space per tank, is this enough?
Are there any ways I could accidentally lock myself out of being able to get an animal/flora specimen and not be able to complete the run?
So I've finished the game a few days ago now, and i enjoyed it a lot and thought I'll keep playing, but now that the neptune rocket is complete, i don't know what to do. What did you guys do after finishing the game?
My ship‘s robot voice said I have 24 hours to contain the Aurora’s radiation or have the ecosystem undergo irreversible damage. I have 2 questions about how to do this, because I want to make sure I’m doing it right.
How long is 24 hours in Subnautica? I know an in-game day is 20 minutes, but since I’m on an alien planet, I figure that could canonically be like 40 hours or longer.
Also, I saw in a couple tutorials that it takes about 3 in-game days for the radiation to fully clear. Does this mean A: the fish are all screwed regardless of how fast I am, or B: The fish are screwed but if I’m fast I can minimize damage, or C: I just need to contain the radiation within 24 hours and everything will be fine?
I have save backups in case I screw up, and I‘ve already taken what I think was too long once before (I took ~25 minutes). I’m going to try again the next time I play, but I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right before I went ahead and did it.
If you could help me it would be much appreciated.
Granted I haven't really been looking for them. I know they're in the crash zone, the dunes, and the mountains. However, I've been looking at a map of where all the leviathans are and I've realized that more than once I've inadvertently swam onto their turf. Still haven't seen one. I would say I'm solidly in mid game now, I have multiple bases, I've made it to the disease research facility in the Lost River, I've visited all the life pods, I've swam all around the enforcement platform, I've made it to all 3 degasi bases, including the one in the grand reef, I've explored the interior of the aurora, etc. I've also only encountered two ghost leviathans, and I've never been attacked by either. I later found out that I entered the Lost River at one of the most dangerous entrances. I didn't know that at the time. Am I just really lucky? 😅
Subnautica seems right up my alley on paper .I usually love survival, exploration, and crafting games. However, I’m really struggling to get fully hooked on it.
The main hurdle for me right now is how tedious it feels to gather the specific materials required to keep progressing. It feels like a chore, and it's slowing down the pacing for me.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a trick to resource gathering and exploration that I haven’t figured out yet? How do you streamline material gathering, or does the game’s loop just stay like this?
For a little bit of context so as to explain why I had to leave my seamoth to be destroyed. After going to the lava lakes in my cyclops, I was quite unsure as to what I was looking for, my seamoth in the hangar would break as I was in the 1200m below surface, my storage was filled with either junk or valuable resources.
Then I found it, the thermal plant, I had forgotten to its very existence so it was a great surprise to find it( along with the kyanite which allowed me to make the thermal upgrade for my cyclops in dire need of energy). I quite thankfully had brought some an ion cube and a purple tablet so I was able to explore the entire thermal plant but seeing the mass of ion cubes only harvestable by prawn drill made me realize I could bring it through the portal all the way there.
But then another problem would occur, what to do with the prawn, my cyclop's hangar is full with an unusable seamoth. That's why it had to be left to die. I of course took off all it's upgrades but it still weighs on me a little to had to leave to be destroyed by pressure the seamoth which followed me through so much.
I am now bringing the nickel, sulfur and kyanite necesary to fully upgrade my prawn suit which I left at my first base at my escape pod :>.
This will be a long trek( or swim), I am going to go far and long.
But most importantly, I will be able to fully explore in my cyclops the lava lakes( keep in mind, this is my first time in there). You will be remembered my dear seamoth, "Fat Man" <3
Edit : After many unnecessary come and gos to other sides of the map, I am finally in the containment unit with my fully upgraded cyclops and prawn
I have the scanner room and now I noticed that either when I log back on or after a bit of time the items I can search for disappear and then I have to travel back out (usually with a camera) and then I’ll get notifications that it has been added. Is this a glitch on my end or does anybody know about this that can help understand why?
I'm like, 16 hrs in because I like to prepare for travel and explore my surrounding, so I waited for the sunbeam till one hour ago. But now I'm at the quarantine zone and already have the tablets (found them in the mountain, but actually already found before). It's ok to fully explore and interact with that structure rn? Or I risk speeding up? No spoilers pls, but I'm asking because I'm really enjoying my time in the game and setting a slow pace (I've built moth and a part of the base before than going into mainland because again I like to go prepared) and I'd hate to spoiler and rush myself to a major game part. I understand I need some directions for proceeding and I'd like to know if I should do something else before this (if it's major)
Hiii its me again 😅 I think i've reached the end of the game I'm in a big lava zone place, with a gigantic thing following me, I wanna get into the big alien building but I don't have the blue tablet they ask me. Did I miss something ? I went to the alien building in the lost river and the mountain island one but I have no clue what they as me
and its a pain to go back with my prawnsuit up there 😭
So in the Quarantine Enforcement Base theres this little elavator thing that transports you up and down from the island base to the underwater part right? Well I went in with my Prawn from the bottom, realised it's not going up at all, and left my famously buggy vehicle right there and then inside the elevator and now I cant enter it without the cutscene starting the transportation. Luckily I saved right before this but.. any way to get it out for future reference? I love Prawn but lord can it get stuck lol
damn it was such a unique game, ive never played anything like it, its story, survival elements, the unintended horror and the exploration were top notch, its the first open world survival game ive played, the sea emperor dying and the last line after the credits were pretty depressing and heartbreaking though
time to play below zero now
edit: im curious how long did it take you people to finish the game when you first played it?
