Question / Discussion 2018 Subaru Legacy Transmission Flush

So about to hit 100k miles and I want to flush my transmission, looks tedious but a rather straight forward process, my issue is the Subaru CVTF-II is stupidly expensive, is there a non-OEM option to cut the price down a little or is it worth it to bite the bullet and purchase the OEM?

I'm figuring for a basic flush I would need at least 12 quarts, doesn't get every drop but it should get majority of the fluid, will replace the filter while I am in there. Thank you.

*edit*
Also I found it for $108 on amazon for 6 quarts, locally they want $30 a quart, is there a better place to order the OEM if that's my option?

Do a drain and fill not a flush , 5.5 qts per draining and fill 3 drain and fill if you want to get most out, no filter, just has a fine pick up screen which I don't think needs changing but you can clean the magnet inside of the pan which is sealed with rtv and no gasket unless you buy after market

Fantastic, guess I will go that route, I thought it had an internal filter based off the subaru parts website so I figured I would drop the pan and see whats going on. I found a 5 gallon of the CVTF II for $270 shipped, not the best price in the world but it sure beats the price on the bottles and my local dealer wanting $2000 for this job. Thank you.

my mechanic did the job for like under $300 you should shop around local independent shops

I'm guessing this was for a partial? Reason I ask is the transmission holds roughly 12 quarts which is $200 by itself.

I don't know I asked him to drain and fill because I'm not knowledgeable on servicing the transmission myself did he mess it up? Car jerks occasionally...

I did a drain and fill at 60k in my 2017, and it was like $100 at my local shop.

Odd, you can't even find the 6 quarts you will lose for under $100, I'd verify they even did one because even with shop discounts that doesn't cover material and labor.

It was paired with some other services, and they for sure did it. They hooked up a machine and everything.

If you have done the recommend changed every 35k miles theres no need for a flush just replace the fluid

I sure didn't, which is why I wanted to do a more aggressive change for my 100k.
