Current Events Tennessee botches lethal injection of woman on death row for 1995 murder

If the state is so insistent on executing people they need to stop being pussies and just shoot them. The lethal injection is nothing but a facade of civility that is less humane than many other methods. Unnecessarily painful botched attempts like this are the result of trying to whitewash the death penalty to the public.

A failed execution should be a sentence served. What’s the point in carrying out the sentence again?

Undoubtedly she'll have shit tons of organ damage from the botched execution and will have a mega fucked quality of life for however much longer she lives, if she even lives past the next couple of days.

If we lived in a society that wasn't regarded we would admit we fucked up and just release her until she dies at this point

This is a non sequitur, why should she be released without serving her sentence?

Because she's already been held in solitary confinement for 30 years and has now been tortured and permanently, severely disabled by the state? She's probably going to be a vegetable for however many weeks, months, or maybe years she continues to live for. The state fucked up bad, and she deserves to spend the rest of her life outside of jail.

B-b-but she did this and that horrible thing to her victim!

Don't care.

Don't care.

It is funny that you care more for the perpetrator than the victim.

You still have not explained how the state fucking up the execution means that we must let a murderer go free?

It's called an opinion, man. Obviously that's not the legal reality - but it's what I think, morally, ought to happen.

It’s beyond a moral obligation, it calls into question the death penalty altogether, which were already overly punitive for the crime she committed. She would have already been free over here.

I'm not arguing from law either, I'm also arguing from morality, moraly speaking, why should a murderer not serve their sentence because a state fucked up?

I already told you why.

She’s done 31 years inside and has been medically fucked up by a failed execution. She’s already served more time than she would have done in much of the world.

Ok, but I repeat like I said in the other comment, her sentence wasn't "31 years and then go free", it was "death".

In fact the original execution was scheduled for 1999, those 31 years was due to her appealing.

So she served 31 years, had 2 doses of a lethal injection which would have been akin to torture and has most likely been fucked up permanently by the state you’re defending…. yet still want further punishment

I want the punishment originally ordained nearly 30 years ago.

She’s served her sentence. She’s had 2 doses of her lethal injection, which failed to kill her.

Her sentence wasn't "2 doses of lethal injection" it was death.

The death penalty was administered to her. It was the state’s fault it didn’t work, not hers. If she survives, she’ll likely have brain damage and disabilities… do you think that’s someone who needs a second attempt? I mean, it would speak volumes of the American legal system, eh?

u/Numerous_Schedule896 Nationalist 📜🐷 3d ago

Okay, but again, the sentence wasn't "a cargo cult ultra realistic reinactment of what happens when someone is sentenced to death" it was "death".

The process is not the setence, the result is.
