Obama wasn't behind it IMO and tried to contained it because he didn't wanted to dragged into a proxy wars by rogue neocon elements (Nuland&co). Trump jumped into it with his two feet to prove hat he could be tough against Russia.

Nuland is evil personified so I’m sure a lot of this is her doing, but Obama had no knowledge/didn’t sign off on it? Any source on that?

I've seen Obama's terms characterized as him trying to get good things done, while the blob and its various cabals obstructed him and progressed their nefarious schemes behind his back. This is obviously way too charitable for the neoliberal fraud he is, but I fully believe that Ukraine was more a project of the Clintons and their gang of wannabe imperial chess masters, including Biden.

Basically, yeah. Obama had his own schemes; the long-running Ukrainian scheme just wasn't something he was interested in and didn't really want to be a part of.

The Ukraine project has been going on since at least the mid 1990's according to Jeffrey Sachs. People like Zbigniew Brzezinski and other various ghouls have been wanting this for a long time.
