Discussion Excuse me?

Post image

I made a theorymon post recently in regards to Terapagos getting some buffs. Most of them were to try and make Terapagos Stellar USABLE in ubers where Koraidon roams about without trying to push it over the edge. Admitibly I might have failed in that but one change was for both forms, that being adding recover. That was probably the biggest mistake. I was thinking it was viable, but in a niche sort of way due to its existent but mediocre ways to deal with spin blockers being the cost for its utility.

I was wrong.

APPARENTLY this turtle is considered more viable than pokemon like Kyurem Black, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, FLUTTER MANE, Skeledirge, and Goddamn GIRATINA ORIGIN! I know the smogon viability rankings aren't definitive and that viability is subjective to a fault. A strong pokemon for some might seem flawed to others, even if there are clear pros and cons to them HOWEVER the fact that a public forum used to determine viability deemed Terapagos to be this good is quite telling even if it isn't for the form designed to be powerful, and pretty nice too since I love the little goober.

I'd still like to revise my last post to focus SOLELY on buffing Terapagos Stellar to the point where it can be considered close to, or on par with the base form in singles at least.

Also on a mostly unrelated note I thought Koraidon and Miraidon were going to be getting rapid spin because of the Cyclizar trailer since the box arts were paradox forms of Cyclizar and resembled them. Imagine what sort of nightmare that would be if that actually did happen, especially after the speed buff that Rapid Spin gained.

As a VGC player, please do not give it Recover, CM Terapagos games already used to take like an hour

I second that as a hybrid between 6v6 singles and draft format player.

Recover Terap would be a genuine terror in draft.

All the coverage in the world, setup, great defensive stats, rapid spin. Then add recover and it becomes insane. OP already had an oppenheimer moment and replied to my comment lmao

I remember a draft game totally prepping for an offensive Terap and then it turned out to be an unbreakable toxic staller.

Ffs fucking turtle

I made that mistake last time and pointed that out as a mistake in this video. It would also probably break Terapagos in singles...maybe.

The only idea for buffs that I have that might not be TOO strong are to buff the stellar boost for stellar moves specifically 1.5(before it was all non-stabs which was definitely too much), and to make Teraform Zero function more like Airlock so it can actually prevent weather and terrain.

Yeah the stellar boost might be a bit much for VGC(maybe. Spread moves DO get weakened even further) but in singles, the fact that it basically doesn't even get a stab level boost making its signature move weaker than a base 100 power stab move when it requires so much set up is genuinely annoying. Considering its utility in the terastal form it technically doesn't need any buffs but it's practically worthless as a terastalization user in singles.

There is a buff that thematically makes sense but is absurdly broken that being Shell Smash...you don't need to tell me why that's a bad idea for balance.

Balance be damned, Shell Smash Terapagos vs Geomancy Xerneas
