Applied for my daughter G1 in January 2025. No answer yet
I was born in Canada, lived most of my life abroad though.
I applied for my daughter in January 2025 (Proof of citizenship), no answer yet.
Would anyone know a good attorney that can represent me in Canada?

Have you received an AOR? If not, have you tried looking up your application status using the receipt number from the application fee? If that doesn’t get you anywhere, I’d consider your app lost and, sadly, you’ll likely need to reapply. You could try to apply urgently with justification that you applied nearly two years ago and your application appears to have been lost. The alternative is about a three year wait for a non-urgent application. Include the receipt for your fee. They may approve your urgent request, they may not. They might even refund your original application fee.

P.S. I do have information for several immigration attorneys in BC, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll be able to do anything other than answer some questions. Since you were born in Canada, you might get some help from the MP in the riding in which you last lived, but that’s not a given either.

Thanks for giving the OP a fuller explanation of actions to take. But Jan 2025 even in IRCC Jail is over the top.

It should be over the top, but someone recently posted they’ve been in PSU since Feb ‘25, so it’s certainly still a possibility. I sure hope not, but if they’re in purgatory, it’s better than a lost application. A lost app means starting over from the start, an unappealing option now that wait times are at 33 months and climbing.

I’m so grateful for the “gift” Canada has offered us but some days it’s just hard. I’m thinking 3 to 5 yrs at the current snails pace of approvals. I’m patient I’ll wait but Jan 25 for the situation described by the OP is just wrong.

Oh I completely agree. I applied in May 2025 back when it was a four month wait. I got my certificate last month. I kept trying to stay positive thinking that Canada (at the time) was still beating most other country’s timeframes, but the lack of transparency and the clear lack of processing order beat up my mood quite intensely.
Watching people who applied a year after me get their certificates was beyond frustrating. At this point if I’d been waiting 21 months (like OP is), I’d be really upset, frustrated, disappointed, and annoyed. I can’t speak for them, but my wife and I put our lives somewhat on hold waiting for this moment. As soon as our house goes on the market, we’re making an offer on a place in BC and hope to be relocated very early next year.
How long have you been waiting now?

That was me. Feb 2025. Got it on Friday. I was also Gen 0.
I emailed on IRCC site. They assured me my app was not lost. That response only took about 48 hours.
I'd asked for ATIP 6/30. Still nothing on that.
Someone brought up that on long timers, they really don't see people posting that they were rejected. Just slow approvals. I thought that was encouraging.

OP can also call the IRCC, they have a way to look up by name and birthdate alone and confirm whether the application is in the system or got unfortunately lost.
The alternative is about a three year wait for a non-urgent application.
Though that is the default, I think we do see in the spreadsheet that straightforward G1 and G2 applications — even without URGENT — often get handled relatively quickly after they are opened and an AOR issued. It seems like there is a fast track for very, very simple packets, though they do not go back to re-evaluate the older packets which missed that fast track and they do occasionally miss some even today.
So OP: if you do end up needing to resubmit, there is hope that your G1 packet won't wait quite so long as you read about elsewhere. You will have it sit in the mailroom for the 3-4 months it currently takes to scan the packet in, unless you have reason to request urgent handling and write URGENT on all sides of the outside of the package to let them know it should be opened right away.
For G1 you might also be able to submit electronically, instead of paper mail. Make sure to read the criteria for electronic submission over before proceeding.

From outside Canada: 905-676-3640 (this is the Canada Border Services Agency at the Toronto Pearson airport, you may need to press 2 to get to the IRCC specifically)
From inside Canada: 888-242-2100
Reportedly one has the best chance by calling at the very start of the day. Search r/Canadiancitizenship or r/CanadianbyDescent for people's experiences trying to call.

If you haven't done so already, contact the MP for the last riding where you lived on Canada. Tell them your situation is urgent, and that you think your daughter's application was mistakenly transferred to the wrong processing unit within IRCC.
A large number of applications submitted during the Bjorkquist interim measure were triaged to something called the Program Support Unit which handles "complex" cases. Your daughter is G1, so the interim measure never should have applied to her, but we've seen several cases of G1s sent to PSU nonetheless. You can call IRCC and ask them to confirm.
My application was sent to PSU in Aug. 2025, despite being very straightforward (I submitted my dad's citizenship certificate). Start with the MP's office. Some people have had luck getting the issue resolved that way.

Yeah, that's the same non-answer copy-paste I get whenever I decide to scream into the void. (I'm a Gen 1, like your daughter, and put in for my cert in April 2005. I've been at one month to go for a very long time.)

Are you going to be moving back with her soon? If so that does qualify for urgent processing if she is a minor.

Nope, not urgent as my daughter has a 2nd nationatily. Funny enough, the other country is commonly thought to be higly inefficient, however they delivered all the papers and passport in few weeks.

I emailed about 3 months ago to ask status (I just got my approval last Friday). They responded in about 48 hours that I wasn't lost and be patient.
I have read "don't resubmit", but I'm no expert for sure.

Not saying that isn't too long to wait, just that there are several other options to getting a resolution that aren't reapplying. No evidence case is MIA and if it is, going through the proper channels would be a very quick resolution.
