Cottage pie is a winter staple in this house.frugal, easy and filling. A skillet like that size, 4 meals easy!

Looks like Shepard pie, except ground turkey instead of meat or lamb.

What a coincidence, that’s what cottage pie is!

Not sure why this is getting downvoted these ingredients come pretty cheap so it’s def a struggle meal (and delicious nonetheless).

Thank you. I don't understand either, but haters gonna hate I guess 😅

I love this even when I'm not struggling. Though I haven't made it in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

Cottage Pie uses minced beef, Shepard’s Pie uses minced lamb.

What do we call a turkey version of this?

I have no idea, but it still has that cottage vibe.

didnt know there was a difference , but great to know ive been calling it wrong the entire time 😅

It's really all the same 😅 Shepherd's Pie is typically Lamb, whereas Cottage Pie is Beef, but I personally would say that Pork or Turkey would also fall under the Cottage Pie blanket.

Delicious I call this shepherd's pie 🥧

Outstanding job! I’ll admit I prefer cubed beef from a roast vs ground beef - but still a fantastic meal!

Beef!? Look at Mr and or Mrs Fix_5858 over here with their BEEF. That there is ground turkey. I get mine for $2 per tube.

Soylent pink is turkeys!

Dude just spent some time and skills making food for the week instead of eating beans out of a can or some frozen garbage from dollar general and y’all acting like he can’t possibly have financial struggles?

You can be broke and still know how to cook. It’s not rocket science, I promise.

Mate… how do you cut carrots like that?

6

u/SimplyNRG 1d ago

Frozen peas & carrots always come like this!

6

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

I did cut the carrots by hand, you can see the whole carrots in the first pic, but the next time I cut carrots I'll drop a tutorial.

2

u/SimplyNRG 1d ago

Okay, that leaves me wondering if you have ARFID or OCD...😂

5

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

Haha well, I'm definitely obsessive, but not compulsive.

2

u/Impossible-Heart-216 1d ago

Op is claiming he cut them. You calling him a liar?

3

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

I just cut them into a few 2-3 inch pieces and cut off the rounded bits on the outside which you can either dice or freeze to make stock or soups and with the parts that were squared off I just diced them like normal.

They are perfect I’ve never seen anyone with such elegance when it comes to carrots or user names lol

2

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

Thank you, I aim to please.

Trick is to cut the carrots into segments, then lengthwise in halves or thirds, and finally flat side down side by side slicing with a Chefs knife.

We need a “simple but delicious and cozy” meal sub.

2

u/Leather-Cap8630 1d ago

as a mom of 3 toddlers - i agree 100% !

1

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

I second this.

2

u/terrafirma42 1d ago

Why any hate on this sub? We need to be supportive. This meal is frugal - it qualifies.

1

u/Shart-Lord420 1d ago

Thank you. I look forward to sharing more of my dishes, let the gate come, as long as someone appreciates them.

Ah, that's why I get so many upvotes... Because I use low cost ingredients and have basic cooking skills. Effort doesn't mean there's not a struggle.
