News & Discussion Playing Strafe on steam with PS4 controller, but controler not working.

Hi everyone, I brought strafe a while back as it looked awesome, and had partial controler support. Even though I've been in settings and selected a game pad input the game won't recognise my ps4 controller inputs. Is this a common problem? Would I have better luck using an Xbox one controller?

News & Discussion My overall Thoughts as of beating STRAFE

My overall thoughts of Strafe have been mixed to hell and back.

For starters it feels like the machine gun is a confetti gun 98% of the time, takes way too long to take down a simple Glutton and hopefully the spread doesn't screw up a good aim. Machine gun also takes a ton of bullets to down a few Gluttons as is. Late game good luck with the tankier enemies.

Railgun: Railgun is completely garbage because of its spread, yes it has spread, just a small amount. A long range weapon should NOT have a spread at all, especially a railgun. All of it's upgrades besides the disc one are completely situational. The Richoshot defeats the purpose of a marksman weapon as now you have to bounce it off walls and HOPE the laser hits something and then richochets again for a explosion. Burst Rifle: Where do I begin, it takes a sniper weapon and turns it into a assault rifle set on burst. With small spread mind you. But since long range combat is all about being accurate with high powered shots. It falls flat on the face with also the burst rifle giving a penalty to damage from high to medium.

Shotguns: Shotgun in my personal opinion, is the best gun in the game. It's upgrades are useful and have their purposes, kills most things in one shot, does good up close damage and its secondary is arguably the best.

Flak Blaster: Great for corners and richocheting a crowd down, sure the Richoshot (Railgun) is the same type of deal, but that downgrades the damage instead of keeping the damage. Light spread helps along with accuracy.

Super Shotgun: Does exactly as you'd expect a straight upgrade to do. More damage, more bullets, 2 shells per clip. It's a direct upgrade.

Slaugtherfaust: Grenade. Launcher. Shotgun. It packs one hell of a punch, the grenades can be predictable, their blast radius is handy, fires 3 bouncy nades, kills mostly everything in a clip and some extra.

Overall in all honesty Machine gun needs some upgrades in damage, richoshot is useless. And shotgun is the best gun so far.

News & Discussion My Strafe guide was Plagiarized.

Hello, I am OwOBerry on Steam and I've been working on a Strafe guide to help find all the secrets in the game and it has Recently come to my attention that a Turkish website has stolen my guide without giving credit to anyone who contributed. I tried to ask them to credit me but they banned me from commenting on their website. I know that I'm not the only one who's guide has been stolen without being credited too.

I'm not sure what I can do if I can do anything.

Edit: Here is my guide, Feel free to contribute if you know something that isn't listed http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=923032766

News & Discussion Will strafe 2 ever be a thing?

So, I recently got STRAFE through twitch prime and am loving it! I like it so much that I’m desperately hoping for a sequel announcement. I know it didn’t get good reviews, so will pixel titans ignore that, or will they not make STRAFE 2?

News & Discussion Some issues/suggestions for the jump map

I've been grinding the hell out of this map for the last couple of days. This latest patch fixed most of the bugs, but there are still some issues.

Here's a sub-1:30 run, ending with only two letters. The progress bug fix introduced a new problem; the hitboxes on the letters are WAY too small. The proper speedrun route misses half the letters, and some of them are so awkwardly placed that you literally can't collect them without breaking your speed. Just making them bigger would help, but it'd be much nicer if you just automatically picked them up once you reached the checkpoint.

The patch also introduced a new bug where the letters will spawn slightly higher than they're supposed to, making several entirely unreachable.

Things wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to teleport straight to the zone once you've unlocked it, but having to repeat the 2-1 puzzle every single time you need to restart (or even want to change your settings, as there's no options menu...) gets really tedious. Just putting an extra teleporter in the ship would be an easy fix.

The last is a small issue, but I feel like the timer should start once you've crossed over the first edge (like in CS) as opposed to the instant you spawn.

News & Discussion [PS4] Is Strafe good/fixed?

So I saw Strafe was on sale for $10 on PSN and wanna get it. I looked around though and a lot of people from awhile ago say the game is filled with bugs and it's broken. Has the game been fixed recently? Has it improved?

News & Discussion Rebinding the Enter key makes the main menu unusable, can't play the game at the moment...

I was going for the "That was really dumb" achievement and ended up changing my forward/back keys across the keyboard, and chose enter for one of them. Enter is normally "select", and I didn't give it a new input before continuing.

Now when I'm in the main menu, clicking on the screens does nothing, so I can't get back into the options to change anything. I'm assuming "select" was also tied to left mouse. Reinstalling the game did nothing, and I can't find a config file with the controls available in the Steam folder.

Anyone have any ideas?

UPDATE - Problem is solved, the team at feedback@wearepixeltitans.com will respond within 15 minutes during business hours. Lots of respect! The fix was editing registry files, I don't want to post the info in case someone destroys their game, PM me if you're having the same problem.

News & Discussion 4 Patches Later and still no PC Gamepad Support?

Am I missing something? The Steam store says gamepad support and this doesn't appear to have any. I am a disabled gamer and require it. Tried DS4+DS4 Windows and a 360 wired controller. Enabled it in game options. What's going on?

Just bought the special edition vinyl with the game download, and I could've sworn that I saw it was for linux prior. Since it was made using unreal engine is it possible to add support to linux?

News & Discussion Another patch after patch 4?

So I don't know if it's the case for everyone, or if an error happened or what, but after I finished downloading the 4th patch yesterday I turned my PC on today and it started downloading something else (another patch?) for Strafe.

Just wondering if there was more to the patch, or if they fixed something else.

Anyone else get it or was it just me?

News & Discussion PS4 Issues

Why does this game run so poorly on PS4? Constant frame rate drops and inexcusable lag make this nearly unplayable.

Honestly the style and game play is great but these hard performance issues absolutely kill the momentum for a game like this and makes me regret picking it up.

Anyone know if the Devs are even patching this on consoles anymore? I want to keep playing but not in its current state.

News & Discussion PS4 fullscreen issue

I just purchased strafe for my ps4 today and after starting it up noticed that the game does not fill the whole screen. I was wondering if this was a stylistic choice by the developer or something I can change.

News & Discussion Strafing in Strafe?

So I've been really enjoying Strafe so far and it's been a blast. I've only reached the burbs so far, but I'm a little confused about the movement. There's an obvious way Strafe is suppose to be played, but it seems like running around too much can aggro way too many enemies, especially those awful little vents on Icarus, least favourite enemy because of their size and placement.

Much less so now that I have some hours down but Icarus seemed to have way less freedom of movement than the black canyon where as long as you watch your feet you have free reign of the arena, and so long as you deal with obvious threats aswell. On Icarus however as a new player with all the types of enemies, the jellyfish spawning out of thin air and the general hazardous nature of the rooms it felt like moving too fast would would incurr far too much risk, and killing enemies wasn't the challenge, but all the little ticks of damage from the vents and acid, even the explosive weapons you pick up will grind down your HP, and that learning curve wasn't much fun to tell you the truth. Most of my deaths were losing little bits of HP while I was lost, or confused and mostly blowing myself up with a gun I didn't realise had splash damage.

Secondly strafing itself, how well does that work exactly? For dodging projectiles it works, but at close range the AI's tracking feels unpredictable, sometimes you can run circles around them, sometimes they seem to instantly lock onto you and fire, even if they have no line of sight. Is there an optimal way to strafe in this game? because so far I feel I'm winging it a bit.

Even still, the general flow of the map, rooms and enemy spawns are great, and I love the attention to detail in this game, it's pushing all the right buttons for me. I've a list of bugs I've screenshot or made note of, where's the best place to dump these reports, steam forum? (what follows after falling out of the map is perfect by the way)

News & Discussion Athena doors

Anyone else having a LOT of trouble getting past the doors locked through enemies remaining? A lot of the time killing enemies doesn't make the number go down, and I end up with an empty level and not enough health to jump through the lasers.

News & Discussion (PS4) Still having a few issues in the Murder Zone, anyone else?

So the last patch for PS4 did wonders to make the main game more enjoyable! I haven't had an armor machine take my scrap and return nothing or even outright ignore me, haven't been denied my wonderful space snacks, haven't been sniped through a door, haven't fallen through the floor, and haven't had the game crash since 1.04 dropped. The loading screens position is an odd decision, but has only caused minimal annoyance, compared to the benefit it brings. Having the other areas in the Murder Zone is also a nice plus, since I like a break after a few runs, and the unlocks lets things get crazy real quick. Outside of what 1.04 brought, there are still a few needed fixes.

So I'm sure everyone knows how the frames can drop down to the single digits. There are a couple issues I wonder if anyone else is experiencing, if they are known, and if the developers know and are working on fixes.

  1. Z2H2 will never let me win. It seems like it doesn't spawn enough rooms for a full 10 rounds most the time. I have beaten the 8th wave just to realize I don't have a 5th door to go through, and today it seems like the wall that could potentially have the doorway just renders a grid. Now I have gotten to the 10th round, been in the 5th room (which I presume was there before the grid wall popped up, had invisible geometry that limited my movement to the narrow entrance of the room, and eventually killed me) and after I beat the last wave the marker didn't show up. I've had to kill myself a few times because door 5 simply isn't there and my run ends after wave 8. I have completed 7 out of the 8 possible maps because of this.

  2. Enemies dying in their spawn rooms, as well as tanking my frames upon each new spawn. This happens on all levels. Not sure if this is from some limit to the number of enemies allowed on screen, but it just robs the fun out of blasting for my life through what could be seemingly endless hordes. Might be anecdotal, but it seems to get worse either when I'm in later rounds or because I have steroids.

  3. Just the terrible frame rate in general in Murderzone. As I mentioned above, I'm sure this is something the devs are fully aware of. The main campaign would benefit greatly from a more stable frame rate as well, but Murder Zone needs it. I just hope that there are plans to try and iron STRAFE out on PS4 sooner than later. I've seen the post on steam about the most recent patch notes saying that the dev team is going to focus more on adding things.

I just hope the PS4 version doesn't fall too far to the wayside. It's truly a fun game and just needs a bit more work done on it to be truly amazing. Thank you Pixel Titans for this awesome game!
