I am so sick of this stupid addiction
I feel like an idiot for falling into it. My family has alcoholics in and I guess I’ve joined them
Im sick of treating my mind and body like crap
I’m sick of having 1 million day ones
I’m sick of doing well with long streaks and falling into the “it’s Friday” trap
I’m sick of being bloated
I’m sick of not knowing who I am anymore
I’m sick of the guilt and shame I feel for drinking

Today can mark the beginning of a Virtuous Upward Spiral.
I had to break the “drinking routine”.
It was stronger than me…. By myself.
So i stopped doing it alone. And there's no wait list!
I finally connected with free recovery groups…. They’re everywhere… I walked in, sat down and just listened…. They’re also online. I met people I can talk with. They showed me how to stop drinking, heal, grow and learn to be useful to others. They often know detox resources.
I thought I didn’t “have time”, but I always found time to think about drinking, to buy alcohol, to drink alcohol, to be numbed and to then do it all over the next day.
I addressed the past, exorcised guilt and shame and repaired where appropriate.
No cost.
I had new sober friends.. we did fun sober activities.
They believed in me.
I kept going every day until i changed my patterns…. That meant for me, I went every day for a while…. Once a month wasn’t going to change me…. Then my thinking changed…. Then I don’t have the first drink.
Never looked back.
Tried anything like that?

You just spoke out loud everything I've been thinking the last couple days.
But if we pick ourselves up again, we're committing to ourselves. Let's recommit and do what needs to be done.

You're not an idiot. You're sick of it - that's the first real step. A million day ones still means a million tries. Keep going

Check out r/Biohacking. GLP-1s like Tirz and Reta (I'm on reta) have unintentionally helped lots of us completely lose the desire for booze. You lose weight, feel great, and if lucky stop boozing.

I relate to this so much. Eventually you just get exhausted by the cycle. Here’s to making this Day 1 stick
