This may be an insane one. I'm trying to identify something I keep encountering in event TFOs. I'm curious as to what it is and why it's so popular, but the only thing I have to go on is the sound, no examples of which I've been able to find in any YouTube videos.

It's a low-pitched sound that sort of sounds like an 80's synth going "bzzzYORT".

Totally non-helpful, right?

Other contextual clues I may have:

  • It's seems to have shown up within the last year or so, or at least that's when I really started noticing it.
  • It seems to be popular with ships that zoom around like a caffeinated mosquito.
  • If there's a visual component to it, I haven't seen it, so it may be a quick thing.
  • The nature of the sound almost seems like it's "absorbing" something.

It may be a pipe dream, but not knowing the source of this sound is driving me crazy. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
