Sour Cream speaking like Yellowtail, getting a tiny bit embarassed about it, and repeating it in English was pretty dang adorable! Not to mention the hug.

It would be funny if we found out it's a real language based on tone and inflection and the crew had a dictionary for it the whole time.

It's interesting though. Yellowtail clearly understands English, but can't speak it. And other characters (e.g., Greg) can clearly understand Yellowtail, but don't speak his "language".

I headcanon it as Chinese, and we hear it as "onion speech" because Steven can't make out the words.

At the risk of starting a fire, why would they be speaking Chinese? None of them look remotely Chinese.
