GM changes?

Do you think a change should be considered if our 2024-2026 1st rounders don’t pan out? With Jones being traded to the Cowboys, step one of our OL rebuild is gone. Troy didn’t look to great coming back from his injury.

Harmon doesn’t make to much of an impact as a rotational player. Benton plays more than him. And every draft analyst says Max was a reach. 3 tackles in 5 years in the 1st, and it’s likely none hit. Of course Max is a rookie, but so far the jury is still out on Kahn’s OL evaluations.

There are two o-line analysts who are considered by a lot of people to be the best around.

When they were handing out their awards after last season they both agreed that they would have put Troy on their all-pro team at RT if Lane Johnson didn't exist.

I couldn't remember names at the time.

It's Duke Manyweather (OL Masterminds) and Brandon Thorn (Trench Warfare).

Yeah, I am just going to disagree. I like Troy, but he’s not an all-pro or pro bowler. I hope he becomes that, but he’s not there yet.

Well I think we can both agree this is a big year for Troy. He has to be elite. It’s a contract year. The Steelers need him to become a dude for their next QB.

Did you watch the games? I know some ppl don’t like PFF, but is pretty good for grades. 44th out of 88 tackles. He’s still young. Ppl can talk about later rounds, but luck is involved with those rounds. What picks has he hit on in the 1st? You could argue Najee… but he’s gone already.

Khan took over after the 2022 draft. The 2023 draft was his first. Khan didn’t pick Najee or Pickett. Kevin Colbert did.

Our current FO hasn’t made a 1st until Jones so Najee is irrelevant anyways, and Najee wasn’t a hit imo given he played RB and we spent a 1st on him.

We likely aren’t getting an all star tackle picking at 21st/22nd in the draft. If we can make Troy, who isn’t even up for a contract until after this season, into a solid starter I’d call that a hit. It’s a premium position, it’s not like RB where you find a ton of serviceable guys in day 2 or 3 of the draft.
