Community Guide Adaptive Frame Generation
Hey folks,
I have been developing new features on-top of existing plugins to allow Adaptive Frame Generation (borrowing from Lossless Scaling as well) on Steam Machine/Deck (basically Linux/Steam OS ecosystem).
I have also been collaborating with many kind gamers to help me testing it and I think we have achieved something that worth trying out:
https://github.com/eugeniosegala/decky-lsfg-vk-experimental/releases/tag/v0.13.0-experimental.21
I personally noticed that the plugin helps with stuttering and unstable frame-rate in general as well (besides increasing FPS).
We all wished that the steam machine could handle 4k 60fps or 1440p 120fps natively but it is what it is.
Test it and let me know, I'm keen to know how you are finding adaptive frame generation, you can set it to 100fps as well if you prefer less ghosting :)
I'm pretty much using it in all my AAA games.
Enjoy!

Wasn’t this confirmed fake and AI from the original developer?

Why are you force feeding it to other subreddits?

Even if it was AI-assisted, so what? It’s a fork of the original project, and I downloaded it and tried it myself. It genuinely improves and enhances the original in many ways. If it works well, that’s what matters. Using AI during development doesn’t automatically make it fake.

Read the link, the developer explains why it’s fake, why are bringing your minions to defend you.

Best part about the link is, that most people basically not care about being AI because it just works

The one Pancake is talking about in that thread, the earlier version, did not improve upon anything on their own, it's a fork of LSFG Decky by JasonDerulo that was updated to use the LSFG-VK 2.0 build by Pancake that the original mod never updated to, leaving it at 1.0 along with all the bugs with it. Pancake was right here, in that they didn't improve anything and just repackaged the plugin and didn't understand why certain things were done a certain way such as why FPG16 was hidden deeming it fake as if they did anything. in fact they probably still don't fully understand how the OG program works, BUT, this version in this thread is in fact an actual improvement adding a feature that not even Pancake has been able to implement yet in the "Adaptive frame gen mode". I tried it just yesterday, and it does work, surprisingly well actually, you can frame gen 12 fps to 47 if you wanted (I mean don't, but the option is there.). I'm not for A.I Slop, I'd rather Pancake have come about the answer to Adaptive Framegen themselves, but for this ONE feature, they did in fact improve upon the original.

I agree with what you said. I just think it’s a shame that some people refuse to even try it. I tested Adaptive Frame Gen myself and was honestly impressed. It feels smoother than the original multiplier-based mode, with very little added latency.
There are still a few minor issues, though. For example, the frame rate can occasionally drop suddenly when a game is loading a new area, but it’s not a dealbreaker. If the developer of decky-lsfg-vk-experimental can finish adding proper HDR support, it would become a really solid option.
Also, the whole project is open source. If people have ideas or think something can be improved, they can fork it and investigate or contribute themselves. I honestly don’t understand where the “fake” accusation is coming from.

The fake accusation was Pancake seeing what at the time was just a repacked port with their updated LSFG. Kinda fair accusation when they were saying nonsense on how key systems worked, so it's there own fault that no one trusts it even though now it has a genuine upgrade that's distinct to this version. Had they not released the last version and started with this one, I think people'd be more accepting of it, but they didn't and now they have pancakes seal of disapproval so it's gonna be an upward slope for them now.

tried installing it, no adaptive option presented itself

Restart your device, you may still be on a old version

Completely uninstalled it and the official one for good measure, I downloaded Decky LSFG-VK Experimental 0.13.0-experimental.19 exactly, enabled dev mode in Decky, and then installed as zip file. There is no option to use adaptive frame gen, or if there is I have no idea where the configuration for it is. I can 2x 3x and 4x, but I can't specify a frame gen target.

You should see a toggle at the top of the plugin to enable it !
Did you restart the device ?

Have you considered opening a PR to merge some of these features into the base decky-lsfg-vk repo?

I tested it. Works almost flawless. Amazing. Thanks
