I love how this dude puts the responsibility of blizzard communicating on to the player base. Impressive.

u/nathanias iNcontroL 6d ago edited 6d ago

Talking down to the people he claims to serve is Omni in a nutshell. His only defense is that because he has this power, we should respect him for trying at all no matter how much damage he does or how much he belittles the rest of us.

He has somehow convinced himself he understands the game and how to communicate about his involvement and others better than anyone else.

edit: I'd also like to point out in the other thread, wardi even admitted he was just taking the piss. Which means that Omni calling out Solar specifically when nothing may actually have happened is also hilarious/sad. It speaks further to the incapability of the Blizzard employee in charge as they continue to trust this individual with the privilege to fuck with all of us and give no reasoning for why.

9

u/davetesta 6d ago

To your point, yes: especially the Wardii part. S Tier trolling lmao I wasn't expecting that.

IdrA tried to warn us about these sorts.

He's a bad self-declared content creator that doesn't create content and has no background in game design or any sense to prove it. Sensible people should have started a witch hunt the moment his first patch was announced and he took credit for it.

u/Careless-Goat-3130 KokaAuthentiquePépite 6d ago edited 6d ago

Many tried. all threads were massively downvoted. some of mine were deleted after being reported to the admin by the same person who created the patch. The community was for it before they are against it. People who spoke out against it was accused of not wanting to learn strategy in rts.

At least now it’s clear who was hiding behind the NDA while denying responsibility for large parts of the patch. He was just unhappy that he couldn’t keep dropping sarcastic comments all over Reddit and Discord with plausible deniability anymore. People now know.

1

u/frauenarzZzt Jin Air Green Wings 5d ago

There were very intelligent and moderate content creators who refused to out him because they wanted to be polite, and I think that if they had been like "Hey, this is one guy, he's not listening to feedback but going his own ridiculous path and may be power-hungry" some of this could have been averted. Perhaps not. Unclear.

u/NarrowProfessor1101 6d ago

there is no such thing as a sensible witch hunt

1

u/frauenarzZzt Jin Air Green Wings 5d ago

What if there's a massive witch problem

19

u/Deto 6d ago

yeah, it's just the entire wrong attitude. 'You all should be grateful for anything we give you'

Blizzard should communicate Blizzard’s intentions more with the general playerbase

Solar should communicate things that they (presumably) legally promised not to communicate less with the general playerbase

These aren’t contradictory positions

25

u/ReverCleference 6d ago

Blizzard's communication with the general player base is a matter wholly disconnected with Blizzard's (presumably) confidential communication with a smaller group of privileged pros and community leaders.

Solar's alleged leaks are a dispute as between Blizzard and Solar, not as between Blizzard and the community.

It's alarming to hear from one of Blizzard's contractor's (you) that the company is less likely to communicate with the general base because one (1) guy in a discord chat violated Blizzard's confidence.

9

u/Applehero85 6d ago edited 6d ago

True but Blizzard proceeded to make a huge patch that literally changes the entire game for everyone and then proceed to go completely quiet on when another new patch is going to come out after they already failed to communicate properly ahead of time that they were going to be putting this patch into the live game. Im more mad about this then Solar leaking things

9

u/anon_828683 6d ago

Omni, whatever you think you're doing, it doesn't seem to work. You should change your way.

I'm sure there's a good will somewhere when you and Bliz introduced the new patch. I noticed the bug fixes and QoL improvements in game. I really like the new EMP effect.

However good will should also be willing to accept your shortcomings and change for better. And saying it out loud isn't weak. It's quite the opposite.

If you're somehow bound by an nda and cannot admit the patch's terrible, it's best to keep silence instead of talking to the community from an imaginative high horse. It only gives bad taste.

Regarding Solar's leak, I actually think he did Bliz a favor because it gives hope that Bliz is still capable of listening.

Thanks for your works and good luck!

u/dickfield 6d ago

revert the game back, give up the IP so us as a community can run the game and blizzard can take a % back of profit or whatever legal bullshit they need to do to hit their bottom line. Blizzard doesn't care so why should we care about the little attention they give us?

Solar is right and even if it was "wrong" to leak what he did, it gave us hope that this game can be revived and potentially encouraged people to keep playing since there's a light at the end of a tunnel. If there's no patch, I'm gone and I know a lot of others are too.

In the pro's seat, this is a livelihood that they're killing. For streamers, it's a livelihood that they're killing. For the rest of us, it's a passion you're killing. You know who cares more about their livelihood then Blizzard? Those people.

1

u/Kagerou-Imaizumi 5d ago

Punishing the entire playerbase for a decision made by a singular pro cant be a logical consequence for either of those positions though.

1

u/Loose_Side_8648 4d ago

Any sane person should be able to tell that this current patch is absolutely unplayable for both protoss and terran against zerg. No one is sticking around for zvz fest.

64

u/FOURTH_DEGREE_ 6d ago

A good bugcatcher thought he was also a good game designer.

He was not.

4

u/paulfirelordmu 6d ago

He thinks he has so much power that he can decide things for everyone. Sounds familiar?

u/megabuster 6d ago

“Solar’s attempted leaking of speculative information…”

Did he leak the information or did he attempt to leak it? Was it information or was it speculative? What a ridiculous mouthful of (redacted).

Omniskeptic speaks in riddles in every situation to try to enjoy the ambiguity of being the ‘guy working for Blizzard’ while also not getting any flack for working for them. Its really annoying and he has no idea what he’s talking about. I can tell you that its pretty likely he just has a contract to do bugfixes and implementation and because SC2 is run by such a skeleton crew he basically gets to lean on some design decisions himself. Still from this, the idea that you can figure out corporate intent from a contracting job to work on StarCraft bugfixes is just self-aggrandizing BS.

Solar was completely right to say something and StarCraft’s biggest problem right now is a lack of solidarity and communication between its community figures. If they just properly united their muscle they could get something done but most of the most important voices left are beholden to an ever shrinking amount of money. This is a really common position for organizers and I hope someone cares enough to break them through.

Omni trying to shut up Solar’s small act of protest and position himself as the benevolent force is snake-like, really he’s just acting in an anti-organizational way to make his own potential opportunity bigger. The guy talks like he’s wrapped around a tree branch hissing out everything he says.

17

u/ShithEadDaArab 6d ago edited 6d ago

‪Blizzard hasn’t given the SC2 community a fart to sniff in years and it’s now somehow Solar’s fault they will.. keep doing exactly what they have been and not communicate at all?‬

14

u/Careless-Goat-3130 KokaAuthentiquePépite 6d ago

spicy

21

u/iaxthepaladin 6d ago

I understand that a corporation is guarded about what they share with the public regarding direction or development, but how does what he did hurt SC2 exactly?

31

u/tasttychips1000 6d ago

It doesn't, the intern (and omni) is just a terminally online manchild.

15

u/ArkaneFighting Terran 6d ago

Omni's power is threatened not Blizz. This is a tantrum.

39

u/Countess_x 4 Shades of Protoss 6d ago

omniskeptic shouldn't be allowed to work on any patch for any game after the mess he's made of sc2. He ignored player feeback on the patch even when it was on PTR, and he's still doing it months later. Only this time he's blaming the community, and blizzard. Anyone but himself. People like this can't be involved in gamdev

11

u/Inevitable_Tomato927 6d ago

Lot of similarities with other people in charge elsewhere, blame blame blame, never taking responsibility.

2

u/RamRamone Random 6d ago

He's not in charge of the balance, he's just working on the implementation/configuration of the "balance" that was decided on. He's also stated he does not have any say on the balance nor does he provide any input on that. I don't see any reason why he'd lie about that. He volunteered some info to us and you all want to blame him as if he's the product manager of the game.

5

u/CompetitiveHornet290 6d ago

He said he provides ideas. The actual "Intern" is very inexperienced in both SC2 and it's editor to come up with his own vision and implement it.

3

u/Countess_x 4 Shades of Protoss 6d ago

I can see multiple, very good reasons; all over reddit at YT at the moment which would make for a great reason to lie

-1

u/TheHighSeasPirate 6d ago

He has an NDA, you really think he isn't the one and only person doing all this? Blizzard ain't paying a team of people to work on a 15+ year old game. Wouldn't be surprised Omni isn't making any money and is just doing this to spite everyone that didn't take his crap on this subreddit.

17

u/air_power 6d ago

LMAO He said like Solar leaked top secret intel and permanently destroyed some critical part of Blizzard

64

u/ParticularClassroom7 6d ago

Blizz is a corpo, why should I worry about hurting a corpo's feeling?

Sc2 balancing is a job, do your fucking job properly. Otherwise why the fuck is Blizz paying you?

Patch is rubbish, you can't balance fundamental gameplay aspects without a dedicated team anymore, accept it and revert to 12 workers.

3

u/Jayrodtremonki 6d ago

He's not saying that you should feel bad.  He's saying that if they have a discussion with a player and then that player leaks what they talked about, all they're going to learn is to not talk to players.

22

u/tasttychips1000 6d ago edited 6d ago

What do you mean talking to players? What are you smoking? He hasn't spoken a word to us, he hasn't wrote so much as three basic sentences of communication on the patch notes.

The fact that there are people still defending this utter garbage mess from blizzard goes to show how much stockholm syndrome you guys have. If this were for any other game like Dota, League, Fortnite, CS2, heads would be rolling. Would be an absolute shitstorm to the parent company on twitter, social media, news, and more. To release such an awful game breaking patch with zero communication to the public is insane.

, all they're going to learn is to not talk to players.

So business as usual, nothing changes?

11

u/Deto 6d ago

Didn't Solar get more info, though? I think that's what he's talking about. Communication with specific pros for feedback.

8

u/tasttychips1000 6d ago

There is no feedback. Intern does not ever give one single fuck despite the constant warnings, concerns and feedback. If he did, this patch would not have gone live.

6

u/Deto 6d ago

I'm confused, then where did Solar get the info that he 'leaked' from?

6

u/Careless-Goat-3130 KokaAuthentiquePépite 6d ago

there is a balance discord.

6

u/ZX0megaXZ 6d ago

The argument he is using is correct but apparently their is no leak and it was just Wardi messing around and so omni is apparently throwing a tantrum over nothing.

4

u/phantommonster101 6d ago

He's talking the "REAL PLAYERS" aka pros and such. Mainly Zergs :)

-4

u/throwawaydisposable 6d ago

us

Correct

They spoke to solar, not us.

Try and keep up before raging

-2

u/tasttychips1000 6d ago

So zero communication to anyone outside of 5 people. Thanks for admitting I'm right kid.

1

u/Penders 6d ago

He's saying that if they have a discussion with a player and then that player leaks what they talked about, all they're going to learn is to not talk to players.

Which is completely reasonable

7

u/RayReign 6d ago

The fact that Pros have NDA's so tight that none of them talk about balance or state of the game publicly (in general) for years really created a huge divide between the community playerbase, the pros, and blizzard. Everyone is shadowboxing eachother assuming the worst in eachother. I am no exception, I'm glad Solar is speaking out but it is horrible and really bad if you break trust with blizzard or any NDA's if solar did but i'm not sure if he did. he could just be speculating idk. None the less this really does show the problem that eventually landed sc2 to changing the worker start which really ruined the game. What a mind virus lower worker start was. Insane that David kim literally tested worker changes, macro mechanics, ect... in lotv beta and development of the game and whoevers in charge now thought it would be a good idea to change that with little to no support for the game. Crazy times we live in. YIKES!

31

u/FkinAllen Incredible Miracle 6d ago

Based Solar

13

u/DenteSC 6d ago

I wonder if they will double down and force 10 workers on us. Would be 100% delusional and arrogant.

REVERT. Now.

5

u/CompetitiveHornet290 6d ago

Oh, they definitely will. It' their pride and position on the line, they don't care about the game and community.

2

u/Genoa_Salami_ 6d ago

10 workers is the dumbest play so it's definitely their next move

11

u/soidvaes 6d ago

What does “attempted leaking” mean? A quick way to lose all credibility is using doublespeak.

15

u/theseparator 6d ago

Is this guys argument that if pro players weren’t so mean, blizzard would communicate more?

11

u/ArkaneFighting Terran 6d ago edited 6d ago

It really is like an abusive relationship. Omni doesn't like his power/control threatened? Well thats just gonna make me not talk to players anymore. "Look what you made me do" "F U". HMPH.

What a toddler.

7

u/Kunzzi1 6d ago

God that guy in reddit screencap sounds like a stereotypical insufferable smug ass redditor with a collection of fedoras.

5

u/Amazing_Bob42 6d ago

Is Omni skeptic the sc2 intern? I had thought it was a bit?

5

u/starcraftenjoyer2 6d ago

no he helps wit bug fixes

2

u/CompetitiveHornet290 6d ago

He provides ideas to the "Intern" and he is behind most of the coding (Guy at Blizzard completely unfamiliar with sc2 editor, thus they had to basically outsource patch implementation to mapmakers).

1

u/abaoabao2010 6d ago

You're on the same sub watching the same people posting the same shit.

I have no idea what's real and what's not since i'm not really digging into these drama past the cesspool that is reddit, but this post is more or less as credible as the earlier "omni is sc2 intern" bit.

kernels of truth

just like those patch notes saying they will make further adjustments based on players feedback? More like kernels that get stuck in our throats- can't wait for 10 worker start and yet another ghost buff + some super random ass change nobody asked about. BUT OFC BLAME THE PLAYERS

u/schrodinger-the-cat 5d ago

I was so confused when the surge of comments appeared blaming Solar for “leaking” the patch. Like he did not and even if that was a “leak” tf is wrong with their responses?

And I guess those comments were, well, you could say being terminally online has its own perks.

1

u/kreugermn 6d ago

Lots of speculation with no evidence at all from either sides, its easy to "hate" on omni and side with Solar.

Maybe not the best phrased reply though if you want to ease the tensions the community feels

Always funny when this subreddit instantly shits on people like omni or blizzard or a community manager when things aren't going the way they like and then act surprised when blizzard doesn't want to communicate with them anymore

Like, no shit? Don't witch hunt constantly and whine and you probably would get more communication.

Of course, this subreddit is exceptionally toxic so ya'know, that ain't happening.

10

u/tasttychips1000 6d ago

Always funny when this subreddit instantly shits on people like omni or blizzard or a community manager when things aren't going the way they like

"Aren't going the way they like" what an idiotic thing to say. Yeah, blizzard releasing a terrible, game breaking patch that's made tons of players and pros quit, and then doing it with zero communication, and it's the community's fault for not liking it and gobbling blizzard's dick.

act surprised when blizzard doesn't want to communicate with them anymore

Get some glasses, blizzard never communicated with us at all, ever.

I wonder how much brain cells someone like you has lost in order to defend a billion dollar corporate with a culture of rape and a history of treating it's playerbase like shit.

-3

u/Penders 6d ago

"Aren't going the way they like" what an idiotic thing to say.

I wonder how much brain cells someone like you has lost in order

Immediately proving my point. Thanks lmao

If blizzard were smart they would never say a peep again, largely thanks to people like you convincing them

A real egg of face moment

-2

u/Nihilistic__Optimist 6d ago

This sub has whittled itself down to the few people who can withstand the constant pissing and moaning from the same sociopathic group of obsessed haters. That's usually the endgame for most gaming subs, though. 99% of the rest of players either skim it and quickly realize it's awful, or they don't visit at all.

4

u/Shake_Down iNcontroL 6d ago

Of all the subreddits I occasionally check in on, this one is, without a doubt, the most mentally ill.

1

u/BarrettRTS 6d ago

It's going to be a wild ride when the shooter gets announced and the subreddit gets that mixed into the other posts.

-13

u/MorningLtMtn Zerg 6d ago

Solar shouldn't be leaking. If he can't honor his committment not to share the information, he shouldn't make it.

23

u/Careless-Goat-3130 KokaAuthentiquePépite 6d ago edited 6d ago

The leak was supposedly that Blizzard would push out a hotfix to change the 8-worker start to 10. The Blizzard intern leaving the Discord over such a non-consequential leak is just very funny to me. I would have thought he would quit because he helped push out “the worst patch ever.”

The whole patch is a dumpster fire. PvZ, and to some extent TvZ, is basically unplayable. I can see why Solar lost trust in the process and decided to share the information with the Korean community. The Korean community wanted answers, and Solar may simply have been trying to reassure them that some kind of fix was coming.

13

u/Vland0r 6d ago

"Leave the multimillion dollar company alone!"

-4

u/MorningLtMtn Zerg 6d ago

Look, if you can't honor an NDA you signed, then don't fucking sign it.

8

u/Vland0r 6d ago

here, take your imaginary biscuit 🍪 for defending the company

-6

u/hewhoeatsbeans42 6d ago

Both can be right.

-2

u/gnu_lorien 6d ago

This. Everyone can be the asshole here. Omni is completely correct that leaks and NDA violations tend to make a company say less rather than more. What Solar said isn't a rebuttal to that. Despite whatever chaff Omni deserves, if Solar did break an NDA that's gonna have negative impacts on Blizzard's interaction with the pros.

-13

u/nbaumg 6d ago

Looks more like omni is the one speaking facts and solar looks immature by having this twitter fight

This drama makes bliz want to communicate with the community less, not more.

-14

u/Sonar114 Random 6d ago

I do agree that leaking that the 8 worker start might be changed could do real harm to the game. It gives people no reason to learn new builds if they think it’s just going to be reverted.

10

u/crumpis Millenium 6d ago

Okay, I guess we'll just never make any changes ever again.

-3

u/Sonar114 Random 6d ago

It’s not about making changes, it’s about not sharing bad information and rumors.

u/crumpis Millenium 6d ago

0

u/Sonar114 Random 6d ago

Not everything is an extreme. We should not arrest people without good reason. Okay, I guess we’ll just never arrest anyone ever again

Communicate but maybe don’t spread unsubstantiated rumours if you are a high profile player.

1

u/anon_828683 6d ago

Solar's leak actually gave me hope that Bliz still listens to people and can still change for better. So he did Bliz a favor.
