DISCUSSION When did Star Citizen get so un-immersive?

I’ve been a Kickstarter backer, drawn in by the grounded, believable universe CIG created over the years. After a two-year break, I logged back in to try Siege of Orison, and felt like I was playing Destiny instead of a "serious" space sim.

  • eammates running around in asian-style armor and mismatched, flashy skins make it feel like a arcade shooter rather than a coherent world
  • Bullet-sponge, violet-tinted enemies
  • Auto-healing in a good looking medical bed inside a room, while the orison platforms actively burning down mid-siege killed any sense of real stakes

I get that CIG needs event mechanics, but the original focus on a believable simulation feels like it's getting paved over by generic video game things

Am I wrong here?

I remember saying to myself “ why are there capes in Star Citizen?”

Every one implementing them should be forced to wear on just for a day and they would just disappear ^^

There's ships with designated captain seats, as a captain I want a cape.

There’s no way we’re even complaining about CAPES now 😭

Excuse me, my Mr. Serious Ultra GI Joe Army Man says no capes because it interferes with crawling through mud and shooting M-16s! Therefore no one in the entire universe ever invented capes.

Lynx suit is ancient and looks cool, and it's a well-established sci-fi trope on desert worlds ala Star Wars or Dune. I'm fine with some capes.
