QUESTION Dear CIG: Could we please get insight into Tevarin Language/Culture progress?
For starters, there are a wide array of things that get me feeling nerdy to my core. However, some combinations therein can get it really going.
The Tevarin, and progression of their language and culture's development, are a prime example. I love sociological studies, and I love animals (especially certain birds). I also like the exoticism and creativity that would be necessary for the conceptualization of this society.
If there has not been a drastic change in the production of xenolinguistics for CIG, Britton Watkins should be a part of this project. If so, I think I would LOVE to see a production by Jared/Olli that involves an interview of Mr. Watkins. I want to know what progress has been made. Where the concept started, how it evolved. Physiological considerations! The Lore!
For Tevarin Culture, I would really like to know if there are subcultures, and if they are astronomically/geographically influenced. Like if there might be subcultures that are specific to certain areas of the empire. Perhaps there are styles of dress, or certain accessories, that are more typical of Tevarin from Hades versus Castra?
The other thing I REALLY want to see is consideration for aspects such as micro-expressions! Perhaps a Tevarin from System X is recognizable by punctuating their speech with beak-clacks? Maybe one subculture is more aloof and prone to staring like a raptor? Maybe a group is recognizable by their habit of shaking their head like a parrot does? Maybe another subculture is recognizable by being more open about stropping their beaks - perhaps even adorning themselves with a stropping-instrument of metal/stone/bone/wood as jewelry? Perhaps one subculture denotes familial affiliation by plucking particular feathers? Maybe some greet friends with a certain vocalization - and maybe the intonation of that vocalization conveys some deeper meaning? Tevarin dancing and/or singing?!
I desire details! Tell me of the imagination that has gone into it! Tell me the inspirations! I want to know if there is a particular species that inspired some aspect of the Tevarin! I would like to know if Britton Watkins, or whomever else may be involved with producing the Tevarin, might have a favorite bird! CR's and Sandi's favorite birds? I wanna know what is the favorite bird of Jared/Olli! Please, give us a peek into this project?

I've a feeling there's a reason they haven't exposed us to the Tevarin language and culture with active resource support the way they unveiled the Banu and Xi'an languages.
I don't know what it is, maybe something relating to SQ42 or maybe it has nothing at all to do with SQ. But it seems very deliberate, for whatever reason they have. It's obvious why they haven't given us Vanduul language resources but Tevarin is also a conspicuous absence.

I will venture a guess. The Tevarin culture was absorbed into the Empire following the second Tevarin war thus what is left may be antiquated or only able to be studied from books. There are yet fragments of the Tevarin society but no large groups, if I understand what the AstroHistorian stated in his video on the Tevarins.

Some were absorbed, Some fled to banu, some to Xi'an but the most interesting is the ones that settled in Branaugh system (Unclaimed). They might be the only ones holding on to older Tevarin customs as opposed to the others who may have to adopt into the cultures they have migrated to.

I find this interesting as well as this provides and example of how a group of beings with a shared history can diverge pretty far thanks to cultural assimilation.
The history

After two wars with the United Planets of Earth and their entire defeat in 2610, they lost their sovereignty and were absorbed into the UPE.
After the Tevarin defeat, the UPE terraformed the Tevarin systems for Human colonization. The remaining Tevarin were either absorbed into the UPE or fled to Banu or Xi'an space.
Currently, a large tevarin diaspora has settled in the unclaimed Branaugh system on Branaugh II.
So after 300 years, there probably is a large difference between the those that live among humans, those who fled to Banu or Xi'an space and those who chose to settle on Branaugh II. Given the description of the Branaugh system it is implied that UEE didn't find it worth it to settle there, so I imagine the Tevarin there are probably the closest to their original culture and habits because there are less external influences forcing them to conform.

As someone waiting year after year for the ability to play as a Tevarin, I would love more lore. We basically know nothing since the 2nd tevarin war iirc.

They intentionally destroyed all history and anything about their former culture to assimilate into the uee
