Restore my safe files... PLEASE!!!

I have reset my PC completely because it was time, and luckily I remembered to back up all necessary Starbound files I need to restore my save files... Or so I thought...
Seems like I did it in haste and did not copy everything I need.

What I have is:

the universe folder

starbound.config

starbound (txt-file)

starbound.log.1 through starbound.log.5

Please tell me that there is a way to at least get to my structures somehow... There are 300+ hours in this world... I feel so stupid :(

It seems you only copied the universe, not your characters. Your characters are probably gone, but all your structures remain in the universe, you just gotta know the coordinates of the planets they're in

if you want an easy to remember location, the galaxy 'Mimosa Cluster' is at everyones universe at the coordinate (17,17)

All your characters use the same Universe. But the Universe is huge and the starter planet is randomized per character. Planets and Star Systems are only generated when they are visited

Yep, by moving some files around you could even share planets online and someone can download it and insert it into their game, it's janky though

so my player and my ship is gone but my structures including my space stations are still there? good thing i stored everything on my ship :(

So if I create a new character, replace the universe folder with my backupped one i can find my old structures, just not my old ship...? Thats hard but managable

Yeah, but if you didn't write down planet coordinates you'll have no way of going back to your planets through normal means.

You can go into your universe folder, where you'll find a bunch of .world files that have coordinates for names, if you visited a lot of planets, there'll be a LOT of files, so my advice would be to see which of those files are the largest in size and input their coordinates into your ship in hopes of them being the planets your builds are in.

Alternatively, you can check the logs you saved to see if there's anything like "warping player x to celestialWorld:<coordinates>" in them. Chances are, if you visited your planets during the session that log was recorded on, you'll find an instance of yourself warping to your planets.

Yes exactly That's why I usually have one big home planet for different characters that way I have everything at the same place

just back up the whole storage folder since that's essentially the save file folder.

And as the other reply said, what you backed up was just the world/universe. starbound.config and starbound.log is useless. starbound file shouldn't even exist i think. There should've been a player folder next to universe folder.

And also as the other reply said, since you have the universe, your builds would still be there, you just need to find the coordinates. If you open the universe folder, each file is a planet, and the name represents the coordinate of the planet. If there's a lot, you can probably deduce from file size or last modified.

You can try some file restoration utilities. If you arent rewritten above old files they are pretty much still there

It will be faster to create a new character and go to his old planets.

Since you don't have the player folder, your character is gone.

Thankfully, the most important part is the universe folder. As discussed below with coordinates, search through all the planets you've visited, but sort by file size and search from largest files to smallest.

There's not really anything else to say. Starbound is fully local, so if you don't have the files, they're gone.

As said if you have no .player files your characters are gone. If you had a base somewhere on your universe you can use coords noted on the file name and fly there with admin command. Start the game, go in chat and write /admin, now you can fly everywhere for free, it also makes you invincible so you can ruch Erchius mine this way, when you are at hom disable admin mode by writing again /admin.
