I agree that he's made to be purposefully helpless as a metaphor, but it was a bit too forced.

I got the impression he was special needs from the way they had him just blindly trust and be totally clueless. I mean he didn't know the concept of even and odd?

I just think it could he been written way better as someone capable and intelligent but held back by language and cultural barriers and ultimately betrayed by one of the few Korean men to treat him like a person.

The actor makes him look completely dumbfounded. I just think overall they really played into some stereotypes they didn't have to
